Sunyi Cafe
Have you ever found the calmness place in your life? I had one experience that I proud to be there. Later after I watched a drama about Children Of Deaf Adult (CODA) I like shown a reality that around me there is peoples wo had beautiful language in the world, that was sign language. I even had a craving to learn about the sign language, but I still knew about how to make my name in a sign language.
But today, I don't wanna talk about the sign language. I just wanna talk about a cafe who empowering our disable friends as their Barista. This the best place because there is no noise because all people or costumers also had to make a sign language than had to speak.
That was Sunyi Cafe.
The Silence Cafe
SUNYI CAFE
I came across this cafe when I and my friends hang out together around Gandaria City Street. While we were looking for dinner, we passed this Cafe and interested to stopping by next day. Immedietely, when we were free, we stopped by and feeling the good and nice ambience there.
I will guide you slowly, now let's talk about the outdoor.
As we can see by the pictures above, the Sunyi Cafe had concept housing because the cafe was developed in a house. I don't know what actually those history, but by the outdoor area, this is build for a residents not for a shop because the architecture of shop and house would be different, and that totally shown by the building.
The Sunyi Cafe building has 2 floor and the Cafe is on second cafe meanwhile the first floor are basement for toilet, prayer room, and storehouse. The second floor had balcony around the building which is used for costumers space. The seating type is divided into 3 parts, namely stepped space for individuals, couple space, group space with several tables and stools.
For outdoor space is not crowded because indoor space still available meanwhile the outdoor weather is too hot, except for smoker. That is why the outdoor space is still available and there a lot empty chairs.
Now we will turn into indoor space which my favorite because the silenceness.
Just because it was developed from a house, the interior concept of this room is a house that has a Javanese traditional concept. We can see from the combination of dark brown and white. This is a color combination that is identical to being used as house paint for Javanese people. The reason behind brown being identical to the Javanese people is because for Javanese people, brown is the color of the earth, which symbolizes the origin and end of human life.
Look at the ceilings which has the polished frame because the influenced by the designs commonly used in the Palace. You can also can see the wall, the dividing wall behind the barista table. It is a wooden wall that is typically found in palaces.
This cafe still maintains the integrity of culture through interior design and color. While the furniture used is furniture made of wood that has a similar color, namely wood brown.
Like I said before that the Sunyi Cafe is Silence Cafe because the Barista is Disable. They can not speak clear and can not heard, because the Sunyi Cafe is a cafe franchise for humanity. The founders (there are 3 peoples) created this concept for humanity, especially for Disable. This cafe is available for deaf and mute community (correct me if I'm wrong) to discussed. At that time I met several friends with deaf and mute, who was so humble and clever. I always be impressed by their sign language. I once tried to sign language when I order. I made my name by the sign language.
The picture above is the 'Hope Wall', all costumers could write some word on the sticky notes and stick them on the wall. This part is awesome.
