For the second time, I visited the beautiful village of Santa Rosa, considered one of the prettiest villages in the whole of Lara State, as you come across this place immediately after leaving Barquisimeto, where you are greeted by its large, colourful murals, mosaics, cobbled streets and colonial-style houses; but the real star of the show is the Church of Santa Rosa, which is the Sanctuary of the Marian devotion to the Divina Pastora – the third largest such devotion in the world. The town also boasts some truly exquisite cuisine.

It took me a while to warm up to Ciutadella. I have a certain unconscious rebellious streak when I travel—it seems that if a lot of people like something, I’m bound to dislike it. And that’s very much the case with this little city; it’s the symbol of Menorca.

The old yellow houses, narrow streets, colorful lanterns, and traditional architecture create a very unique atmosphere. Everything feels a little slower here, making it a perfect place to wander around, discover small corners, and enjoy the surroundings.
