This has been a work almost by chance, but quite pleasant. A few days ago the neighbors warned that were selling liberated coffee in the Food Cellar. Something a bit surprising because coffee in Cuba is sold regulated (and mixed with peas) and even so there has been no availability for months.

Despite being a producing country, the population has to import coffee powder. The coffee produced here is exported or sold to tourists at prices that are unattainable for most Cubans.

Hence, the announcement took us a little by surprise. Well, it turns out that the Santiago 510 coffee is a special edition for the 510th anniversary of the city of Santiago de Cuba and as such it was sold in a limited way to the population. Literally after that day it has not been sold anymore 馃檪.

Anyway, as a coffee lover I was ready to buy two packages to have as a reserve (yes, it is a behavior conditioned by scarcity). However, when I saw that you could pay by transfer, almost a miracle in today's Cuba where everyone wants cash, I ended up buying four packages.

Brewed with the same coffee maker that has seen a thousand battles on coal, gas or electric stove, this one hundred percent coffee, Cuban and Santiago flavor is appreciated.

With a dark roast and a peculiar flavor, the Santiago 510 reminds us of the coffee roasted with wood and pulverized with a pil贸n from our fields. If you haven't had that experience, this is the closest you'll get.
