Security Alert: Risk to Account Funds Continues to Increase
A couple of days ago I published a post warning about a security flaw that is allowing hackers to steal funds from our accounts. If you haven't seen it yet, you can read the original post here: New massive hack
Unfortunately, the problem continues to grow. From what I have been able to observe in the newer cases, it is my perception that the modus operandi is not exactly the same as the one I described in my previous post; however, regardless of the exact method they are using, the threat remains fully active.
While a solution is found, the most prudent recommendation at the moment is not to keep liquid HIVE or liquid HBD in your account's active wallet.
Implement these protection measures immediately:
- Use the savings section (Savings): Move your liquid capital to Savings. Since it takes three days to become available, this option gives you a vital time window to react to any unexpected event
- Constant monitoring: Permanently check your account to ensure there are no strange movements or suspicious transactions
- Cancel unauthorized Power Downs: If you notice that a Power Down process has started that you did not request, stop it immediately and change all your keys using your Master Key
Please take precautions as soon as possible. Remember that, due to the nature of the blockchain, once funds are extracted and transferred to another account, there is absolutely nothing that can be done to recover them.
Alerta de Seguridad: El riesgo con los fondos de las cuentas continúa en aumento
Hace un par de días publiqué un post advirtiendo sobre una falla de seguridad que está permitiendo que hackers se roben los fondos de nuestras cuentas. Si aún no lo has visto, puedes leer la publicación original aquí: Nuevo hackeo masivo
Lamentablemente, el problema sigue en aumento. Por lo que he podido observar en los casos más nuevos, tengo la percepción de que el modus operandi no es exactamente el mismo que describí en mi post anterior; sin embargo, independientemente del método exacto que estén utilizando, la amenaza sigue completamente activa.
Mientras se encuentra una solución, la recomendación más prudente por el momento es no mantener HIVE ni HBD líquidos en el monedero activo de tu cuenta.
Implementa de inmediato estas medidas de protección:
- Usa la sección de ahorros (Savings): Mueve tu capital líquido a Savings. Al requerir tres días para hacerse disponibles, esta opción te da un margen de tiempo vital para reaccionar ante cualquier imprevisto.
- Monitoreo constante: Revisa permanentemente tu cuenta para asegurarte de que no haya movimientos extraños ni transacciones sospechosas.
- Cancela Power Downs no autorizados: Si notas que se ha iniciado un proceso de Power Down que tú no solicitaste, deténlo de inmediato y cambia todas tus claves utilizando tu Master Key.
Por favor, toma previsiones lo antes posible. Recuerda que, por la naturaleza de la blockchain, una vez que los fondos son extraídos y transferidos a otra cuenta, no hay absolutamente nada que se pueda hacer para recuperarlos.
