Hello everybody! Today I propose to continue our virtual tour of Veliky Novgorod. The day before, I began my story about what we saw immediately after we found ourselves in this ancient Russian city after arriving here from St. Petersburg.
I expected to see a lot of old buildings behind the gates of the fortress wall, and in general it turned out that way. Everything here really looked as if it had come down here directly from ancient paintings - ancient white stone churches, a fortress courtyard. However, now everything is fully maintained and restored.
Paths lead from the entrance to the fortress in different directions. There are beautiful cast-iron lampposts on the sides, and in the very center of the fortress there is a monument to the "1000th anniversary of Russia". I used to hear a lot about this monument and specifically searched for information on the Internet for you.
INFORMATION FROM THE NETWORK: One of the most famous sights of Novgorod is the monument to the Millennium of Russia. Its grand opening took place in 1862, the year after the abolition of serfdom. The time of the monument's installation was not chosen by chance. According to the legend recorded in the chronicle, Rurik, the leader of the Varangian squads, was invited to Novgorod in 862. This date is considered to be the year of Russia's birth, and 1000 years later the solemn celebration of the first millennium of the Russian state took place.
In fact, the monument is a huge bronze ball, which is supported by sculptures of Great figures of the state who lived in different historical periods. Large sculptures represent the main rulers of the country, and below there is a group of sculptures of various cultural and political figures along the perimeter.
There are always a lot of people in this place. Commemorative plaques will tell you information about the creator of the monument and when it was erected. But we had a time limit that day, so we decided to move on and take a good look at everything.

Привет всем! Сегодня я предлагаю продолжить нашу виртуальную экс курсию по Великому Новгороду. Накануне я начал свой рассказ о том, что мы увидели сразу после того, как очутились в этом старинном русском городе после приезда сюда из Петербурга.
За воротами крепостной стены я ожидал увидеть множество старинных построек, и в целом так оно и оказалось. Всё здесь и вправду выглядело так, будто сошло сюда прямо со старинных картин - старинные белокаменные церкви, крепостной двор. Правда сейчас здесь всё полностью ухожено и отреставрировано.
Дорожки ведут от входа в крепость в разных направлениях. По бокам стоят красивые чугунные фонарные столбы, а в самом центре крепости установлен памятник "1000-летия Руси". Раньше я много слышал об этом монументе и для вас специально поискал информацию в Интернете.
СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Одна из известнейших достопримечательностей Новгорода - памятник Тысячелетию России. Его торжественное открытие состоялось в 1862 году, на другой год после отмены крепостного права. Время установки памятника выбрано не случайно. Согласно записанной в летописи легенде Рюрик, вождь варяжских дружин, был приглашен в Новгород в 862 году. Эту дату принято считать годом рождения России, а через 1000 лет состоялось торжественное празднование первого тысячелетия государства Российского.
По сути памятник представляет собой огромный бронзовый шар, который поддерживают скульптуры Великих деятелей государства, живших в разные исторические периоды. Крупные скульптуры - это основные правители страны, а ниже идёт по периметру группа скульптур различных культурных и политических деятелей.
В этом месте всегда много народу. Памятные таблички расскажут информацию о создателе памятника и о том, когда он был воздвигнут. Но у нас в этот день было ограничение по времени, поэтому мы решили двинуться дельше и всё хорошенько осмотреть.
