For me i think restricting AI solely to governments or making it completely illegal for the public might be a double-edged sword cos while it would curb malicious deepfakes, it would also cut off millions of legitimate creators and everyday legit users who rely on it. The real solution i believe lies in stricter legal penalties for the perpetrators and better accountability from the platforms hosting these tools. That poor creator went through an absolute nightmare, and it's a stark reminder that our laws are struggling to keep up with how fast technology evolves.
