Based on real life story, 127 Hours features James Franco as Aron Ralston, mountaineering enthusiast who made news in 2003 by surviving bizarre ordeal. The plot shows how he, during the hiking trip in Utah canyon, suffered an accident resulting in his arm stuck in rock. Without cell phone signal or any ways to seek help, and with diminishing food and water supplies that make his death certain, Ralston is forced to find gruesome solution to his problem. With almost entire film focused on a single character, 127 Hours is mostly carried on the shoulders of Franco who delivers another great acting performance. Director Danny Boyle, on the other hand, tries to fight monotony with MTV-style shots that show protagonists' hallucinations and visions, but some of those scenes look too "hip" for what is supposed to small but powerful human drama.
