Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

This is the #40th issue of "Week through Adrian's Lenses" weekly roundup.

Let's see what we have for this week.

Week on Hive

x of 52 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

INLEO: Rebranding, Vision, and... LEO Power Up Day!

Today is the 15th of the month, so let's start with that: it's LEO Power Up Day (link from last month!), also known as LPUD.

I powered up 250 LEO a few minutes ago, reaching 20,300 LP right now. More about it in tomorrow's post about my Hive goals.

This week Leo went under a brand change process, involving the logo, name (from Leofinance to INLEO), domain name (including redirecting leofinance.io traffic to inleo.io), color scheme, discord server, X account and possibly more places I haven't noticed yet.

Rebranding was kicked off during a launch party, followed by a the first rebranded InLeo AMA, the next day.

A few days later, Khal shared his vision for INLEO in a post that is worth reading in entirety, even though it's pretty long.

Also this week, the Leo team shared for the first time publicly their rough "Dev100 List", the top 100 priorities for developers to work on.

Rebellion Overtakes Splinterlands

Splinterlands made it clear that Rebellion... presale comes next week, with the new edition to be launched in December. You have all the details in the announcement post. Some interesting changes compared to previous pack sales, so be sure to check that out.

More Content Coming Out of Hivefest

After the Hivefest and even the "after-Hivefest" are over and people returned home, they started to process through the rough materials they had from Hivefest and we see more content.

Manu doesn't have "photos" in his username for nothing. Take a look at this and appreciate a professional at work (says an amateur like me, lol).

And since we are talking about Manu, the @hivefest account shared his presentation at Hivefest. I assume we will see more of them cut from the big YT recordings and added to 3Speak.

Communities Update

The original design included 3 types of communities, but the first implementation only included the first of them, the one we are familiar with to this date. The other two types (journal and council) have now been added thanks to the work of @howo, who presented the communities update here.

Keychain Swaps Are Available in Production

We've talked about Keychain Swaps in one of the previous Week through Adrian's Lenses update. The difference is then the new feature was included in the beta Keychain extension, now we can see and use it in our regular Keychain extension.

Safer Transactions with Xfer

@arcange created a relatively simple tool that can introduce a new layer of security especially when trying to send funds to exchanges, by defining special rules for that and thus, avoiding typos. I see one potential issue here though: people who aren't paying attention when they define the rules and also, if an exchange account changed since users last defined a rule for that exchange (as was the case with Binance). I heard Arcange say at Crypto Maniacs that he would like to see xfer added at the core level, so he is, like others, aware about the centralization issue when managing funds.

We have two posts here: one introductory post and one safe transfers tutorial.

Public Hive Mirrornet Updated

Running a mirror net for Hive is not cheap. To quote @gtg, "most attention to the Mirrornet was paid around the time when we had to perform HardForks".

Although he followed with "we are not yet preparing for the next HardFork", having a public mirrornet updated is an indication things are heating up toward a hardfork, but we should expect a lot of testing before that. We have no details or date so don't get excited yet.

Tamer Stats, Leveling and Merging in Muterra Beta

If you play or want to play this game, this is probably one of the posts you need to read.

Life of Hive

HiveBeeCon Vibes from the Participants

I was prepared to list an impressive number of posts with favorable impressions from participants to HiveBeeCon. But @edje made my job easier and he linked them in his post about his participation to HiveBeeCon in Krakow (the first time he met other Hivers in person). So you will find all the links you want there. If you are like me, you could go down the rabbit hole and read and enjoy pretty much all of them, lol.

I'd also like to add here the reflections of @ph1102 regarding why is HiveBeeCon different from Hivefest.

LATAM Blockchain Summit Was Last Week

Hive was well represented at LATAM Blockchain Summit in Bogotá, Colombia. Just by checking out his posts, @ecoinstant (Alex) always seems to be all over the place, mingling and interacting with lots of people. That's what I mean.

For Spanish-speaking people, @josepimpo put out another post from LATAM Blockchain Summit which includes a recording. A panel where CBDCs were discussed is included, and I believe he was the moderator of that panel.

Hive Sucre Adds Another Major Business to the HBD Payment System

The 60th ally, as they call them, is Crab Bay Market, which is a shopping center holding a supermarket, a hardware store, a food section, and a number of stores already part of the Hive Sucre community. Looks like from several businesses accepting HBD in a larger shopping center, they convinced the entire shopping center to accept it. Well done!

Hive in Venezuelans Schools

This HIVEED class is something I'll keep tracking. Check here and here. Those teenagers definitely seem captivated.

Promoting Yogurt from Sucre on Hive

When you start to have a concentrated number of Hive users localized in the same area, something like this will start happening. Local businesses from the real world will start to advertise on Hive.

Week in the Crypto World

ThorSwap Came Back, But Not the Same

Initially, this news made me rant... But I decided to delete all that (almost a post of its own) and tell you in a very neutral tone, that Thorswap is back after most transactions were halted for a while through the interface. It is different because the terms of service have been updated to prevent the flow of "illicit funds" and also they will block countries sanctioned by the US.

SBF Trial Seems to Be in Everyone's Thoughts

As impactful on crypto as this may be, I don't seem to be interested in the subject. But if you are, here's an overview of what happened during the first 2 weeks of SBF's trial.

Want to check out my collection of posts? (work in progress!)
It's a good way to pick what interests you.
