On my way back from an event recently, I happened to come across an elderly man who use to be"wealthy to some extent, as a young girl, I remembered his children use to attend one of the best primary schools in town and their school fee was on a high side too, he drove a flashy car, the reason why it was easy for him to be known in our neighborhood then because most people could not afford the kind of lifestyle he had, I'm not sure of what his wife do for a living, but everyone knew she always loved dressing nicely/extravagantly and she was a die hard party goer, I guess her job was to spend her husband's money. According to the stories I heard, the seemingly wealthy man came from a humble background, but luck shined on him and he got a job with a good salary pay alongside other allowances included, hence his lifestyle change, he believed life was short, so its better to enjoy the moment, people were always happy to see him at a bar because there will be a round of free drink for everyone, He quickly gained a reputation for being generous and kind. He was well-loved in the community and was seen as an example of what hard work and good luck could bring. but there was something he lacked, which brought him down to this terrible financial state he was. He was unable to take charge of his finances in order to have a financially secure future, rather, he found himself in debt and unable to pay his bills. He had to move back to his hometown and start all over again with nothing. His story serves as a warning to others to be dedicated to becoming financial literates, because ignorance can lead to huge financial crises in the future.

in today's post, I will be sharing about some money misconceptions It is important to understand the basics of financial literacy in order to make smart decisions regarding our finances. We should also be aware of common money myths that can lead to costly mistakes. Finally, we should seek out reliable, expert advice to help us make the best decisions for our financial future.

1 High salary equals a financially secured future

This is a very common misconception. As you can see from the story of the man above, he probably felt relaxed, because of the huge salary he began getting, forgetting, that money is like a tool in our hands, if we don't utilize it well, it is bound to follow a wrong direction. Do you know that the more you earn, the more bills tend to accumulate, because you can afford certain things now, without a conscious act of budgeting, you can end up in debt, It is important to remember that money should be spent wisely and not just on luxuries. Investing in the right places and saving for future needs is a better choice. Financial literacy and understanding the power of compounding are important to help manage money better, a high salary, if not managed well does not help In securing your future.

2 Budgeting is hard

I've heard this statement times without number, starting out something irrespective of what it is can be somewhat hard at first, but with consistency in doing that same thing, only then can we realize that it isn't as hard as we thought. instead of giving up on budgeting, why not take a little step and get to know the budgeting plans that work for you, With time, budgeting will become easier and you will develop a habit of saving and keeping track of your finances. Start small and set achievable goals. Eventually, you will be able to reach your financial goals and secure a more stable future.

3 Saving for retirement is early now

You can never be too early planning and saving towards retirement, because the sooner you start saving towards that, the more return you get. Compound interest works in your favor the earlier you start investing in your retirement savings. With enough time, even small contributions can add up to a large sum. Furthermore, planning for retirement early can help to reduce stress and provide peace of mind and avoid cases like the story described in the introduction of this post, also retiring early is another added advantage.

4 Investing is meant for the rich

This particular one cracks me up every time, because how then do you expect to get richer when you don't have an investment plan, Investing is a great way to grow wealth over the long term. It doesn't always require a lot of money to start, and with the right plan, anyone can become an investor. Start small and build up your investments, and you'll be on your way to a more secure financial future rather than always trying to survive financially for the rest of your life, investing reduces your future workload.

5 Everything will fall into place
I had to reserve this one as the final, like I stated somewhere, money is a tool that requires proper usage, if it isn't handled well, it can as well find its way out due to mismanagement, we should always remember to save for a rainy day, so that when misfortune strikes or any emergency needs arises, we are prepared and able to handle it. Planning ahead and living within one's means is key to achieving financial stability. Wise money management is the key to success, don't just sit around waiting for money ft fall in place.

Conclusion

There are a lot more money misconception spreading around that has led people to taking wrong decisions concerning their financial life, I hope we have learned some today and know where we need to make adjustments. So have you witnessed or heard any other money misconceptions? do let me know in the comment section, I would be glad to read your replies.
