If Hooters ends up off the map, it would be more the loss of a cultural icon than the loss of dining.

Regardless, the USA has long been severely over-restauranted and over-retailed.

Even here in a local sense, we have seen a major reduction in the number of eateries in our town, in spite of this being a tourist venue. We're not seeing turnover, we're seeing a straight REDUCTION.
