The Splinterlands initiative is an interesting one.
It seeks to cultivate a relationship with one of the larger communities on Hive and that's smart.
It is interesting to see earning SPS as a motive, since earning Hive and buying SPS is a simple matter, but the convenience of having someone else convert your Hive to SPS may be an attractive perk for some.
Time will tell
