What do these phrases have in common? That whoever says them is showing generosity. So, in my opinion, coffee can be one of the tangible demonstrations of beautiful qualities that we can develop as people. However, it seems that coffee itself is generous. Is this a lesson that coffee teaches us? Let's try to find out.
GENEROUS FROM THE MOMENT IT IS ON THE PLANT.
Have you ever seen a coffee tree in harvest season? If you have not seen it, surely on the internet you can find many photos of this plant in that period of so much joy. You will see that each branch can have dozens of beans. I have seen that some have so many that the plant bends so much because of the dam of the grains it holds. Some branches rest on the ground. So, generally, the coffee tree is not satisfied with generating a few coffee beans, it can generate many of them.
For this reason, it is normal that during this time of the year there is a lot of commercial coffee traffic. Several people are employed by the hacienda owners to pick the coffee beans. We regularly see vehicles transporting several quintals to the place where it will be processed. When the harvest is good, the vehicles are so loaded and heavy with so much coffee that it seems that this will be their last trip.
The aroma of coffee deserves a separate chapter. Have you ever been to a place where coffee is roasted? The aroma is intense and hypnotizing. Even when it is made at home, it can give off a smell from a considerable distance. For example, sometimes I have perceived that they are roasting coffee about three houses away from where I live. One says, "Aha, they are roasting coffee over there." So coffee generously gives off its aroma when it is being processed. We can say that the coffee itself makes its processing pleasant.
And we arrive at the moment that we are most familiar with: preparing it. Regardless of the method we use we can smell when someone is preparing coffee. It is a gift to our senses.
Once ready, we can say some of the phrases at the beginning of the post and many more variants. At the moment of sharing some time with someone or giving something to ourselves, we can think of accompanying ourselves with a cup of coffee. The cup of coffee (or its variants, such as ice cream) is an excellent companion to that which we give to another, or to be the gift itself. And we like to be generous. We have nice cups to serve it in. When we finish we like to ask, "Do you want to have another little bit?" "Do you want more?" We want the other person or group of people to feel good. We want to be splendid when it comes to coffee.
A LESSON IN GENEROSITY
With all this we can realize that the generosity of coffee is in all its stages. On the plant, it is normal for it to produce generously on each branch. This in turn makes the harvest season generous, so much so that it generally supplies the whole year. When processed, it generously spreads its delicious aroma so that everyone knows that they are roasting the coffee. And when we prepare and serve it we want to be generous, we want everyone to be satisfied and happy. Why? Why do we want to be generous when we accompany ourselves with coffee?
Obviously we are human beings who can develop very nice qualities, such as generosity. So it is something that many adopt as a characteristic trait of their personality. However, we cannot deny that this plant and its fruit is teaching us a lesson that helps us to develop and enhance our good things. How is it possible that something inanimate can teach us lessons? Because they reflect the qualities of their creator. And because we have the same Maker, we can continue to learn things in everything around us.
In conclusion, when we think of generosity, we can think of the good example that coffee sets for us. And how grateful we are for that! We are happy with that. That's how happy the people around us feel when we are splendid in giving to others without expecting in return. Coffee will exist forever, and so will the generous. See you next time!
