Today is the weekend and it's just so cool that weekends are for rest after the whole weekdays. But the life of a farmer is just way different. There is no weekend or weekday. Every day we have to attend to the livestock. But as a farmer, I agree with the saying “All work no play makes Jack a dull boy”. No matter what, I should also find some time to relax and enjoy myself too.
The Weekend for me.
I was with my boss all through yesterday while we kept sorting some fish. The count was just so much and we worked the whole day yesterday. Jumping from one pond to another. My boss asked if I would show up today. I told him I was so tired. Then he asked me to show up no matter what. I never knew he had plans for himself and me.
While we were working, I quickly told him I wanted to check some stuff on my phone. I saw the weekend tasks on zealy about beers, and I smiled. He then asked the reason for me smiling. I told him about the Beer Weekend challenge. Then he asked if I could take a beer. 😆.
He told me if I would take some then he wouldn't mind stopping the work for the day and let us have some enjoyment at the Bar. I smiled again and nodded. I don't take beer, sir. He laughed and said how do I want to go about it then. Because I already put him in the mood to take one.
I apologized, and he asked me to halt the work and let go. Haha, Today is another day. 😂. We got to his favorite spot not too far from the farm. He never said anything but they already knew what he came for. They served two glass cups and a bottle of beer.
Only if I could drink one. 😂. I asked for a bottle of water but they declined my request that they don't sell bottled water. But beers only.
My boss asked for two plates of catfish pepper soup. At least if I can't take beer I should be able to eat fish. 😂. I was happy because it's been a while now I had a taste of pepper soup. It was served hot!
It took me some time to adjust to the area because I wasn’t so comfortable with the environment. There are other sections where they smoke and drink. My boss doesn’t smoke. After he was done with a bottle, he ordered another bottle again. 😂. I never knew he could drink that much. I felt that drinking beer might be so addictive at some point. Instead of him taking the fresh catfish I felt the beer added more value than the fish.
We had discussions about life and he also asked about the progress of my farm. The discussion was interesting because he took some sips from the cup. But on my end, I wish we could just evacuate that parlor so I can take some water to quench my thirst and cool my hot and peppery lips.
After a long wait, he asked us to leave for the farm. The first thing I did after getting to the farm was to take a bottle of chilled water. 😂. Saturday was fun for me. How I wish we could have weekends as an Agriculturist…
I learned that there might be No weekends but that does not stop me from enjoying the moment… Life goes on…
