The streaming platform Netflix has just released an animated series focused on one of the most mysterious and incomprehensible mythologies The Norse, but do not be fooled that it is animated does not imply that it is suitable for all audiences, in this case we are talking about a very, very graphic series in every way.
The twilight of the gods
This series is centered on the struggle between gods, but in the midst of them as always there are humans which are involved in the plot with the purpose in this case to get revenge, so comes to the protagonist of the series a maiden named Sigrid who met in a battle who would become his love, Prince Leif a Viking.
Now, Sigrid for being half giant (Jotun) was of normal size and returns to the land of her father to present her future husband, the day of her boba suddenly arrives Thor, in its most brutal version, who seeks Loki and claims that the giants hide him and as this people do not fear the gods asks him to retire, so Thor attacks them and kills everyone except Sigrid and her beloved Leif.
This maiden is filled with rage and swears revenge, so Loki comes into play and offers to support her in her plans, but as we know, Loki is described in Norse mythology as the trickster god, as the “origin of all fraud”.
The animation is full of all kinds of actions and being based on Norse mythology, it is full of sex, violence, nudity, promiscuity, infidelity, swearing and very explicit scenes, in the best Viking style.
As for its creators we have Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco, remember that Zack Snyder who is known for films like 300 and Dawn of the Dead, but recently his career has been compromised or questioned by the failure of Rebel Moon, which was compared to Star Wars, remember that this director was involved with Disney and Lucasfilm.
So this animation is seen as his attempt to vindicate himself. As I see it, it is an interesting, bloody series, but I also see it or compare it with The Blood of Zeus, another animated series of the same platform and which also poses a confrontation between gods and men.
I recommend being very attentive to the plot to understand, as for other details, the music is enveloping and one of its strengths and makes the audience focus and feel in the middle of the plot that relives the war between the Æsir and the Vanir, as for its animation we can see strong visual moments with a brutal aesthetic, but quite simple, but there is no doubt that it places us in the time of the Vikings who saw some of these characters as their gods. To conclude, I must say that I give this series a 6/10.
La plataforma streaming Netflix acabada de estrenar una serie animada centrada en una de las mitologías más misteriosas e incomprensibles La Nórdica, pero no se engañen el que sea animada no implica que sea apta para todo público, en este caso hablamos de una serie muy, pero muy gráfica en todos los sentidos.
El ocaso de los dioses
Esta serie está centrada en la pugna entre dioses, pero en medio de ellos como siempre hay humanos los cuales se ven involucrados en la trama con el propósito en este caso de obtener venganza, así llega a la protagonista de la serie una doncella de nombre Sigrid quien conoció en una batalla a quien convertiría en su amor, el príncipe Leif un vikingo.
Ahora bien, Sigrid por ser mitad gigante (Jotun) era de tamaño normal y regresa la tierra de su padre a presentar a su futuro esposo, el día de su boba de pronto llega Thor, en su versión más brutal, quien busca a Loki y alega que los gigantes lo esconden y como este pueblo no teme a los dioses le pide que se retire, así que Thor los ataca y mata a todos excepto a Sigrid y su amado Leif.
Esta doncella se llena de ira y jura vengarse, así entra Loki en juego y le ofrece apoyarla en sus planes, pero como sabemos, Loki es descrito en la mitología Nórdica como el dios timador, como el "origen de todo fraude".
La animación está llena de todo tipo de acciones y al estar basada en la mitología nórdica, está llena de sexo, violencia, desnudos, promiscuidad, infidelidad, palabrotas y escenas muy explícitas, al mejor estilo de vikingos.
En cuanto a sus creadores tenemos Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva y Eric Carrasco, recordemos que Zack Snyder quien es reconocido por películas como 300 y El Amanecer de los Muertos, pero recientemente su carrera se ha visto digamos que comprometida o puesta entredicho por el fracaso de Rebel Moon, a quien se le comparó mucho con Star Wars recordemos que este director estuvo involucrado con Disney y Lucasfilm.
Así que esta animación es vista como su intento de reivindicarse. Como yo lo veo, es una serie interesante, sangrienta, pero también la veo o comparo con La Sangre de Zeus, otra de las series animadas de la misma plataforma y que también nos plantea un enfrentamiento entre dioses y hombres.
Recomiendo estar muy atentos a la trama para comprender, en cuanto a otros detalles, la música es envolvente y uno de sus fuertes y logra que el público se centre y se sienta en medio de la trama que revive la guerra entre los Æsir y los Vanir, en cuanto a su animación podemos ver momentos visuales fuertes con una estética brutal, pero bastante sencilla, pero no hay duda de que nos ubica en la época de los vikingos los cuales veían a algunos de estos personajes como sus dioses. Para finalizar, debo decir que le doy a esta serie un 6/10.
