Most of the time, when everyone talks about them learning a new skill most especially a digital skill as the world is diving towards the digital space, sometimes I will have wished to actually learn a particular digital skill that even till now, I wasn't able to.
Even though I have a bit of experience in some digital skill like Forex trading, content writing, crypto trading and many more. I will have really love to have learnt one digital skill and that is Video Editing. I always admire the effort video editor of it to turn unpolished clips and turn it to amazing content that looks like it was even produced on Netflix. But here I am, I can barely even add music to a PowerPoint slide not to talk of even putting videos or clips together.
Somebody will ask me, why do I really love video editing and why do it really matters so much to me. Well I am going to tell you in this post today. One of the reason why video editing really matters to me is because I have actually come to understand the importance of powerful video content most especially in our digital world. With the look of things now, video is the language of the internet now and it will be so absurd for me if I am left behind most especially when it is something I love.
If you should actually notice nowadays, video virtually everywhere. Ranging from Instagram, tiktok to the mother of videos YouTube. You can keep scrolling and keep scrolling for hours and you will agree with me that video content have become the order of the day in the digital world. Just by creating quality and engaging videos, I have seen people make careers, build their businesses, brand and even connect with millions of people across the world irrespective of the distance barrier. Recently I learned something and that is when it actually comes to video editing, good editing can at the end of the day make or break a video.
I as a person, I am a big fan of lot of Nigerian skit makers, lot of YouTubers and generally content creators. The way those people with ease blend clips and add with it the needed sound effects which made those videos irresistible at the end of the day is just amazing. Examples of Nigerian skit makers I admire their video editing in their skit is Taaooma, Mr Macaroni, and many more. Even though they are funny, their video makes them irresistible and that is due to the huge amount of work that is invested in editing if their video even though I don't have any idea how it works right now.
Talking about how this skill will actually change my life. I will start by saying if I could learn and been able to edit videos like a professional, this will definitely give me a powerful tool in my professional life. With that and like I said earlier, I can help build brands and businesses. I can work for companies and even help friends to create compelling content. At the end of the day, being a skilled video editor will just increase my value in society.
Well looking also into what is holding me back. Well I have the plans to learn it immediately after I am done with school. Currently in my final year, I can say the academic work has really been so much choky that I can barely have time for myself not to talk of even learning a skill. Currently now I don't have the mental block to learn that. Even though people said that is not a hindrance, I believe I did not have the necessary gadget to venture into that for now and which involves getting a good laptop.
But of course I am already working on overcoming those hindrances and having plans that instantly after school, I will enroll into a video editing tutorial. I think if I can learn it for 6 months, I will be able to master the skill effectively and gain massive result from there. But for now, I believe everything needs to be taken one step at a time. Now I just need to focus on my academics, get through with this final year stuff of a thing. Then after that, we can start planning the next step.
