On that fateful day, I entered the room which had a few people sitting and I was supposed to join them since we were just done with a program I was invited for but there was this young guy who acted timid unlike others who welcomed me warmly as a guest.
Even when he had to go in and out of the house, it was like he wanted his privacy with no interference from anyone and right there I thought in my mind that I should be careful not to pass my boundary with this person. Unknowingly, he is a very friendly person but someone who doesn't really play a fast one with a new person unless he sees that they are worth moving close to and today I can say that he's one of the sweetest friends I have in my circle.
Most times, first impression has made us lose some great people who could have been our go-to people just because of how we met or how they relate with us the very first time. We judged them quickly not until we move closer to them and our perspectives about them changes.
There are people who had lost opportunities to jobs, contracts, life partners and the likes just because of the first impression they gave others while some had deceptively lured their way in to people's life, circle and workplaces because of the positive traits they portrayed on their first meeting of which wouldn't last long because a man's act is like a smoke, no matter how well you're able to hide it, it doesn't last long and would sprout out with time.
In as much as we want to be real with our attitudes with people and not being deceptive, it is equally important that we create an healthy atmosphere about us wherever we go and that is not in any way the same as pretending.
Some things are just necessary to do when you find yourself among new people who are strange to your personality.
Put up a smile when you're meeting new people, dress appropriately to interviews or workplaces on your first day at work, talk moderately in a group or team.
There's actually no handbook on how to live but creating positive impression about ourselves is very important.
