Birthday celebrations were made important while we were children, cakes as the master of the ceremony lighting up our day as the real celebrant, with soft drinks arranged on the table around the cake both left and right. Though it was not a time when we make a wish and blow candles because it was not yet in vogue then but the atmosphere of having our friends around us chorusing a happy birthday song for us makes it a perfect day of celebration and we grew up with this tradition.

Now as an adult, my birthdays are not only just to wine and dine but to reflect on my past year, the challenges that might have overpowered me but that I was able to scale through, the achievements I was able to make either big or small and the likes. In a nutshell, my birthdays are moments of appreciation so it's a day I celebrate no matter how small it is.

People around me knows me to celebrate them on their birthdays as well because it's not like you will celebrate it twice that same year but just once. Even a simple wish goes a long way to celebrate a loved one of there is no provision for gift at that point in time.

For my next birthday, I don't have plans yet for any big celebration because it is placed on some conditions of some things I'm expecting. If they show up then there will be celebration and it doesn't take a period to plan one so hopefully it happens the way I have set my focus but my main and unchanged plan is to gift the needy. I really want to do that and I've been on it for a while.
It will be a perfect way to mark my birthday for next year.
