Punch Club was a fun experience!! A management/simulation game where you rise from the bottom of street thugs to the top of the world. All while fighting crime and doing part-time jobs on the side!!
This game made me feel like I'm playing a cartoon show, and it might as well be because there are Teenage Mutant Ninja Alligators and Super Hero references all throughout... The plot follows the protagonist's quest to avenge his father's death. He strives to become the world champion while tracking down his father's killer.
Punch Club plays like a simulation game, you spend time training, going places, taking jobs, taking part in Tournaments, while managing energy, food and happiness. Official fights usually happen every 5 days, but there are street fights, and crime fighting. (At night, the protagonist takes the moniker of Dark Fist, and fights crime.) The fights are presented in the game as rounds, where each character choices a set of actions from an ever-expanding list of martial arts moves!
By the time I'm posting this, I finished the game's main campaign. The storyline of Punch Club doesn't take itself seriously, and a lot of plot twists happen instantly. People you interact with can die, and the player can be thrown into another country which changes the gameplay without warning nor a way to go back to earlier locations.
My only issue with this game is how repetitive the training becomes very quickly. I spent 20 hours playing this game, 12~ of them were spent waiting... Progress also gets reduced every day, and it's possible to loop yourself into hours of no-progress, if you don't have a plan... Still, the game loop is solid, and I liked the game enough to beat the main story!
(Note: tell me if you're interested in me uploading my whole playthrough, I'm not sure about it because of the repetitive nature of the game.)
