This is my entry to the Weekend Experience #weekend-engagement Initiative. There were four topics to choose from, and I found myself to be interested in answering this question.
"Would you still want to post blogs on Hive if there was no monetary reward at all? Why or why not?"

The Short Answer: Probably not.
The Nuanced Answer:
HIVE is one of the few places in which I get rewarded for writing what I feel like writing. I have many interests from gaming to drawing (art) and sometimes technology. No other place gives me the flexibility to alternate between the topics I write and still get rewarded for it.
One of the reasons I stick to HIVE is the promise of earnings. Even when the dollar value is low, I still earn HIVE Power that keeps accumulating. It's a promise "If I stick to it, I'll get me money in the long term."
I have (a modest) faith that the community will stick around long enough for that day to come.
I'd love to say "I'll stick with HIVE even if it doesn't earn me money" but I'd be lying. Even now, with $HIVE price so low. When my post earnings stay low for a while, I find it hard to keep writing.
If I want to write for free, many places are better than HIVE and have bigger audience. I used to write in Facebook groups before discovering the blockchain. And while writing on a decentralized platform (like HIVE) is nice, I'm not really against centralized platforms when they work well.
So, if HIVE didn't have a rewards system, or if somehow I got targetted by downvote groups I can't win against. I'll probably switch to another platform. I may keep posting on HIVE for my small audience here, but it will no longer be my main blogging platform. Not that I want something like that to ever happen.
What do you guys think?
