The challenge for this week in Ladies of Hive is a bit thought provoking. The question I wanted to answer was "With technology ever creeping into daily life, how do you plan an optimal home environment, where family are safe within well-organized conditions, spaces where children can play, explore, and discover without your ever watchful eye? Describe opportunities you seek out when presenting that you feel are important to the household."

Technology has always been a part of our daily lives. Even at home, it is hard to avoid. Phones screens and the internet are everywhere even for children. Because of that, sometimes, I think more about how to keep our home safe from evil doesrs. I want a space where my family feels protected, safe but not controlled.

Our home does not need to be perfect or strict. I want my parents to feel at ease and my sister to feel free to move around without being hindered. That is how I think an optimal home should feel.

Planning a Safe and Organized Home

If ever I would have my own home in the future, I always want to start with safety. I'll keep wires, chargers and sharp objects away from open spaces, on its own little place. Cabinets with tools or cleaning items are placed high so my children cannot reach them easily. This helps prevent accidents especially when everyone is tired from work or school.

How it is in our home

For technology, we set simple rules instead of strict ones. Family devices are placed and used in shared spaces like the living room. This way no one feels watched but can still be guided if needed. It also helps us talk more and interact especially when my sister shows us some cool memes.

Organization is also important in our home. Each item has a place even if the space is small. Toys, books and school items are placed in low shelves so my sister can get them on her own. This teaches her responsibility without needing someone to guide her every time.

Some Personal Opinions

I believe everyone, young or adult, need space to play freely. In our home the living room is where playing happens most of the time. It is not always neat but it is safe. You can usually see my dad and my mom cuddling while watching the news, my sister on the desktop playing some random games while I am on my phone scrolling.

I usually pester her for fun but I also like giving her chances to discover things by herself. She enjoys e-books like wattpad, simple crafts and even helping with small tasks around the house. Sometimes she draws or writes on scrap paper. These activities help her think and try things without making her feel like someone constantly observes her.

One thing I value a lot is family time without screens. We always eat dinner together and talk about school work or small stories from the day during dinner. Phones are not allowed on the dinner table and everyone must be present before starting unless they got permission to do other things. My friends says this is very traditional of our family and no one really do this but to me, it's a happy moment that I think make me feel like everyone's together as a family.
