About me

My name is Aiko and this is my first time doing blogs. I've seen my classmates do their own in their social media so I kinda want to do the same but not on a place that my classmates would easily find. I feel shy sharing my own stories to people who know me personally so I hope doing these will help me overcome that shyness eventually.
I found Ladies of Hive randomly and reading the comments, I feel like everyone is friendly and I won't be judged harshly so I hope it's fine to join this community.
My Contest Entry
Anyways, holidays are a time we wait for with joy and warm feelings. They bring our families closer and give us a chance to slow down and feel relaxed. Still, not everyone gets a chance to rest during these days and some people keep working so others can enjoy the season. I want to share my thoughts and small stories for this Ladies of Hive contest I want to join in.
Working During the Holidays
Some jobs never stop even when holidays come and they are very important for our daily life. I have not worked on holidays myself but I've known some people and family members who had to work and leave home early. Most of them are in the BPO industry and OFWs. Seeing their effort helped me understand how much care and love they put into their work sacrificing holiday time with their family.
When I meet them I try to do small things to show support and care. I give them food and snack with me or send kind messages and check on them during the day. These simple acts may feel small and insignificant but they can mean a lot to people who work while others rest.
Holiday Decorations at Home

This year, we just started decorating which is very late for a Filipino household. Our Christmas tree wasn't too great and was planning to buy a better one but everyone is busy about something that we just reused what we had from the previous years. Even so, it's still fun to decorate and we aren't expecting a lot of visitors this year so it's fine, I guess.
We enjoy keeping decorations simple as long as it helps everyone feel relaxed. The Christmas tree is placed near the living area so we can enjoy it together and share our stories for the year. Decorating is not just about looks but about making a space feel more cozy as the surrounding gets colder and feel more Christmasy.
