Blunt Arrows
Legolas and Robin Hood would have a hard time dealing with the next challenge proposed by this week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge: when the Broken Arrows ruleset is active, in fact, it is not possible to use creatures with ranged attacks.
Arrows, bows, crossbows, slingshots and whatever else are not allowed and we must resort to other solutions to overwhelm our opponent!
Neither we nor our opponent can field creatures with ranged attacks, so the choices available are smaller than usual, and the chances of encountering creatures with magical attacks are very high, especially if among the available creatures there are not many with abilities such as sneak and opportunity that can allow us to deploy melee creatures in large numbers.
Be careful not to be caught off guard, however, because a smart opponent might opt for an uncommon team with the very goal of catching us unprepared.
Among the abilities void and thorns hold a place of honor, and if we can get both on the battlefield we will secure a big advantage over our opponent.
Let's move to the Battlefield!

So let's go on to analyze a game played with this ruleset:
While I focus on a magic team - among other things making a huge mistake and completely ignoring one of the three rulesets available... - my opponent aims for a surprise effect by choosing almost only creatures with melee attacks.
The first turn is brutal and my team is heavily hit; the enemy team also suffers losses, but not comparable to mine.
My fate seems already sealed and my hopes for victory are very slim.
By round 3, there are even fewer creatures in play, but I notice a mistake by my opponent: his most fearsome creature, Katrelba Gobson, finds herself taking my attacks too soon and is thus slowly weakened by my blows... Will it be enough to overturn the outcome of the game?
Yes! Bertrol Gobson happens to have exactly the needed attack points to eliminate the dangerous opponent's card, and with this obstacle removed, all he can do is grab the victory!
MVP of the match
He starts off quietly, but Bertrol Gobson turns out to be the trump card I wasn't expecting: thanks to the opportunity ability, he accurately hits the opponent's creatures and makes up for my gross mistakes, leading me to win a game I thought I'd lost right off the bat.

The Broken Arrows ruleset reduces the range of creatures we can deploy, but that doesn't mean there are not enough choices available: adopting a good strategy is still key, although sometimes a bit of luck may be all we need :)

Legolas e Robin Hood si troverebbero in difficoltà ad affrontare la prossima sfida proposta dalla Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge di questa settimana: quando il ruleset Broken Arrows è attivo, infatti, non è possibile utilizzare creature con attacchi a distanza.
Frecce, archi, balestre, fionde e quant'altro non sono ammesse e dovremo ricorrere ad altre soluzioni per sopraffare il nostro avversario!
Nè noi nè il nostro avversario possiamo schierare creature con attacchi a distanza, per cui le scelte a disposizione sono più limitate del solito e le possibilità di incontrare creature con attacchi magici sono molto alte, soprattutto se tra le creature a disposizione non ce ne sono molte con abilità come sneak ed opportunity che ci possano consentire di schierare creature corpo a copro in gran quantità.
Attenzione però a non lasciarsi sorprendere, perchè un avversario astuto potrebbe optare per un team poco comune proprio con l'obiettivo di coglierci impreparati.
Tra le abilità void e thorns ricoprono un posto d'onore e se riusciremo ad averle entrambe sul campo di battaglia ci assicureremo un grosso vantaggio sul nostro avversario.
Spostiamoci sul Campo di Battaglia!
Passiamo allora ad analizzare una partita disputata con questa regola di gioco:
Mentre io mi concentro su un team magico - fra l'altro commettendo un grave errore ed ignorando completamente uno dei tre rulesets presenti... - il mio avversario punta sull'effetto sorpresa scegliendo praticamente solo creature con attacchi corpo a corpo.
Il primo turno è brutale e la mia squadra viene pesantemente decimata; anche il team nemico subisce delle perdite, ma non equiparabili alle mie.
La mia sorte sembra già segnata e le mie speranze di vittoria sono molto flebili.
Al terzo round le creature in gioco sono ancora meno, ma noto un errore da parte del mio avversario: la sua creatura più temibile, Katrelba Gobson, si trova a dover sopportare i miei attacchi troppo presto e viene così piano piano indebolita dai miei colpi... sarà abbastanza per rovesciare l'esito della partita?
Sì! Bertrol Gobson si trova ad avere esattamente i punti di attacco necessari ad eliminare la pericolosa carta avversaria e, rimosso questo ostacolo, non può far altro che conquistare la vittoria!
MVP della partita
Parte in sordina, ma Bertrol Gobson si rivela l'asso nella manica che non mi aspettavo: grazie all'abilità opportunity colpisce con precisione le creature avversarie e rimedia ai miei grossolani errori, portandomi a vincere una partita che credevo persa in partenza.

Il ruleset Broken Arrows riduce la varietà di creature che possiamo schierare, ma ciò non significa che le scelte a disposizione siano poche: adottare una buona strategia è ancora fondamentale, anche se talvolta un colpo di fortuna può essere tutto ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno :)
