Stibbert Museum Park: a romantic English-style park with fascinating Hellenic and Egyptian elements.
I can think of few things that are more relaxing than taking a peaceful walk with someone you love.
Plus, if you are surrounded by the beauty (natural or man-made) of the world around you, the day is definitely going in the right direction :)
And if you want to take a walk around Florence surrounded by some lovely park, full of plants and art, few places can rival the Stibbert Museum Park, which is able to mix artificial and natural elements with great harmony!
A beautiful sunny day and warm temperatures make for perfect conditions to explore this place, and although this was not our first visit, my sweetheart and I of course did not let the opportunity pass us by and went back to explore one of our favorite parks in Florence.
The garden is part of the Stibbert Museum complex and features an English style park layout... but with Italian, Hellenic and Egyptian elements!
The style is therefore very unique and unusual and walking through the various paths lets you discover some new and evocative corner or glimpse every few steps: statues, temples, a pond, small caves, pottery of all kinds, trees and plants from the most diverse places, in short, there is something for everyone!
What is certainly most eye-catching is a small Egyptian temple that overlooks a pond full of turtles and ducks: with its exotic appearance it adds a touch of mystery to the whole Park and is the main reason I first took my girlfriend for a walk here.
With its statues, small Sphinxes, and an Obelisk next to it, it almost feels like you've changed cities and are no longer in Florence! 😂
The water in the pond is very green, with various small animals living there peacefully.
There is also a few tiny caves, and everything seems done to make the place as mysterious and intriguing as possible!
Just a short distance away and you will instead come across a small Hellenic temple, with a beautiful marble statue inside: first Egypt, and now Greece!
And then statues, terracottas, coats of arms, and buildings with an unusual style that is the result of the blending of different styles!
You can tell that the Park's original owner loved art from many different places and had no problem mixing different influences to bring his personal artistic vision to life.
In short, a truly unique place, where there is a magical and, at times, mystical atmosphere, where space and time seem to have bent back on themselves over and over again creating a Park that you can visit almost forever looking for a thousand secrets hidden within it!
With my girlfriend we always have a lot of fun going all over it, trying to find more unusual stuff and exploring every corner and recess.
The Museum then hosts a huge collection of medieval weapons and armor and, for lovers of that genre, it is a place not to be missed!
Also inside the Park is a Limonaia (i.e., a greenhouse), which, however, is not accessible to the public except during certain events.
Next to this Park - literally a few meters away - is then the entrance to another beautiful garden, the one of Villa Fabbricotti.
And if we go a few hundred meters away, walking down a steep slope we come to the Orti del Parnaso and the Giardino dell'Orticoltura... and without going too far other villas, parks and gardens, all to discover and admire, while enjoying peace and tranquility.

Parco del Museo Stibbert: un Romantico Parco all'Inglese con curiosi elementi Ellenici ed Egizi.
Mi vengono poche cose in mente che siano più rilassanti del fare una tranquilla passeggiata con qualcuno che ami.
Se poi attorno sei circondato dalla bellezza (naturale o artificiale) del mondo, allora decisamente la giornata sta andando per il verso giusto :)
E se si vuole fare due passi per Firenze immersi in un qualche bel parco, ricco di piante ed arte, pochi posti possono rivaleggiare con il Parco del Museo Stibbert, capace di mescolare con grande armonia elementi artificiali e naturali!
Con una bella giornata di sole ed una temperatura mite si creano le condizioni perfette per esplorare questo luogo e, sebbene non si tratti della nostra prima visita, io e la mia dolce metà certo non ci siamo lasciati sfuggire l'occasione e siamo tornati ad esplorare uno dei nostri parchi preferiti a Firenze.
Il giardino fa parte del complesso del Museo Stibbert e si contraddistingue per essere strutturato come un parco all'Inglese... ma con elementi Italiani, Ellenici ed Egizi!
Lo stile è quindi molto particolare ed insolito e passeggiare tra i vari sentieri consente di scoprire ogni pochi passi qualche nuovo e suggestivo angolo o scorcio: statue, templi, un laghetto, piccole grotte, terrecotte di ogni genere, alberi e piante provenienti dai più svariati luoghi, insomma, ce n'è per tutti i gusti!
La cosa che sicuramente più colpisce è un piccolo tempietto Egizio che si affaccia su un laghetto pieno di tartarughe ed anatre: con il suo aspetto esotico aggiunge un tocco di mistero all'intero Parco ed è la ragione principale per cui ho portato la prima volta la mia ragazza a passeggiare qui.
Con le sue statue, le piccole Sfingi ed un Obelisco affianco, sembra quasi di aver cambiato città e di non trovarsi più a Firenze! 😂
L'acqua del laghetto è verdissima, con vari animaletti che vivono lì beatamente.
C'è anche qualche minuscola grotta e tutto sembra fatto a posta per rendere il posto il più misterioso ed intrigante possibile!
Basta allontanarsi di poco per imbattersi invece in un tempietto Ellenico, con una bella statua di marmo al suo interno: prima l'Egitto, ed ora la Grecia!
E poi statue, terrecotte, stemmi ed edifici dallo stile insolito e frutto della commistione di diversi stili!
Si vede che l'originario proprietario del Parco amava l'arte di tanti e diversi luoghi e non si è fatto problemi a mescolare influenze diverse per dare vita alla sua personale visione artistica.
Insomma, un luogo davvero unico, dove si respira un'atmosfera magica e, a tratti, mistica, dove lo spazio ed il tempo sembrano essersi ripiegati su se stessi più e più volte dando vita ad un Parco da poter visitare praticamente all'infinito alla ricerca di mille segreti nascosti al suo interno!
Con la mia ragazza ci divertiamo sempre molto a girarlo tutto, cercando di trovare altre cose insolite ed esplorandone ogni angolo ed anfratto.
Il Museo poi ospita una collezione enorme di armi ed armature medioevali e, per gli amanti del genere, è un luogo da non lasciarsi scappare!
Sempre dentro al Parco si trova anche una Limonaia (ossia una serra), che però non è accessibile al pubblico, se non in presenza di determinati eventi.
Accanto a questo Parco - letteralmente a pochi metri - si trova poi l'ingresso di un altro bel giardino, quello di Villa Fabbricotti.
E se ci allontaniamo di qualche centinaio di metri, percorrendo una ripida salita si giunge agli Orti del Parnaso ed al Giardino dell'Orticoltura... e senza andare troppo più in là altre ville, parchi e giardini, tutti da esplorare ed ammirare, respirando pace e tranquillità.
