Welcome everyone 👋, I'm back again with a new post for the Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is an online collectible card game using blockchain technology. Every card in the game is owned as a non-fungible token (NFT) and is traded using similar features to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you’ve ever played collectible trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh!, you’ll find a similar experience, but through a web browser and blockchain wallet.

Heavy Hitters
This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Heavy Hitters ruleset, which only works if monsters with the Stun ability are played. Why? because this ruleset gives all monsters the Knock Out ability. And what does it do? it will allow units to deal double damage only when attacking an enemy that is stunned, and for now the only way is to use monsters with the Stun ability, which have a 50% chance of stunning the enemy they attack, causing them to skip their next turn.
Personally, I like this ruleset cos I like anything that provides more damage and therefore chaos on the battlefield, but unfortunately I don't have many monsters with the Stun ability to make it work.
Ability required to activate this ruleset:
STUN
Abilities that help against it:
Immunity: The monster will be immune to negative status effects and therefore cannot be stunned.
Cleanse: Will remove negative effects on the frontline friendly monster, dispelling the Stun.
Currently, no summoners grant the Knock Out ability.
There are currently 19 monsters with the Knock Out ability:
And only Djinn Muirat has this ability at level 1.

Now let's analyze a high-ranking battle in the Champions League modern format:
Vettev VS Jedielf!

|---|---|---|
| Taking Sides: Neutral monsters may not be used in battles. | Fab Four: Up to four units can be used. | Heavy Hitters: All monsters have the Knock Out ability. |

The first player, Vettev, decides to play Lily Shieldpaw (dragon elemental) as his summoner, it costs 6 mana but it is worth it, it gives +1 health to all its units. It also grants Camouflage (units cannot be direct targets of attacks unless they are on the frontline) to its monsters. And at the start of each turn, it will heal one of the backline allies who has taken the most damage.

In the frontline position, Baakjira will be the main tank, a very resistant whale that has 16 health points. It will take reduced damage from magic attacks by 50% (rounded up) and will heal itself at the start of each turn for one-third of its max health (rounded down). It will give all allies +1 health, and reduce the speed of all enemies by -1.

In the second position, Anasth Soothsayer from the rebellion set, who has a total of 5 abilities. It has the Cleanse (at the start of each turn it will remove the negative effects of the frontline monster) , Tank Heal (restores a third max of health of the monster in the first position), Lookout (adjacent units take 1 less damage from attackers with Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity), Dispel ( when attacking an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that unit) and the Dodge ability( has a 25% chance to evade melee and ranged monster attacks). A great support unit, since 4 of its 5 abilities will help the tank monster, in this battle the legendary whale will be difficult to defeat.

In the third position, Igor Darkspear who has the Stun ability, perfect for showing off the power of the Heavy Hitters ruleset. When it attacks an enemy, it will have a 50% chance to apply Stun to the enemy, causing it to skip its next turn.

In the fourth and last position, Sultry Barmaid, the team's second ranged unit. It will attack before the battle begins, what most know as the Ambush round. Like her partner, it also has a 50% chance to apply Stun to the enemy.

The second player, Jedielf, on other side decides to play a water summoner called: Pembrook Nymph, which allows the use of a gladius card. It is a powerful advantage if used correctly. And it will also give +1 health to all its monsters.

Baakjira the same card chosen by his opponent in the first position.

Isgald Vorst in the second position, a powerful gladius card that will attack the enemy with lower health as long as this card is in the backline. Like all gladius cards, its main quality is having the Bloodlust ability, which allows it to get +1 to all stats every time it destroys an enemy. Additionally, if its attack exceeds the unit's armor, the remainder will damage the unit's health.

Deeplurker in the third position, a water monster that, like its gladius ally, will attack the enemy with lower health. Its attacks have a 50% chance to apply Poison to the enemy, causing them to lose -2 health at the start of each turn. And this card will reduce the enemy's melee attack by -1.

Igor Darkspear in the fourth position, also played by his opponent. The only unit on the team that has a ranged attack and has a 50% chance to Stun the enemy.

Round 1-3:
Igor Darkspear(Vettev) destroys ☠️Baakjira (Jedielf).
Round 4-5:
Sultry Barmaid defeats ☠️Isgald Vorst.
Round 6:
Sultry Barmaid eliminates ☠️Deeplurker.
Round 7:
Sultry Barmaid ends the battle by destroying enemy ☠️Igor Darkspear.

Watch on Splinterlands

Unfortunately, Jedielf's monsters were stunned for many rounds than the enemy team and fell victim to the Heavy Hitters ruleset, taking double damage from enemies. But even without this, Jedielf's strategy of destroying monsters with lower health and thus strengthening his gladius was interrupted by the Camouflage provided by Lily Shieldpaw, who protected its backline monsters from being attacked directly.
Forcing the Jedielf units to attack the enemy giant whale that had an ally healing and removing its debuffs, making it too strong to be easily defeated. And the result of this was the victory of the Vettev team without losing any units.
