[Review] 🎀 Mean Girls (2004) / Chicas pesadas– A Classic That Never Gets Old 💄

From the very first scene, Mean Girls throws you into a high school jungle disguised as a teen comedy. It’s hilarious, sharp, and painfully relatable—no matter how old you are when you watch it. What really struck me this time around was how unapologetically honest it is about the cruelty and confusion of growing up.

Regina George is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic characters of the 2000s. Watching her strut across the gym in slow motion, blowing a kiss like she owns the world, is pure cinema. Rachel McAdams plays her with a mix of elegance and venom that makes you love hating her—and maybe even admire her a little.

Regina George es, sin duda, uno de los personajes más icónicos de los 2000. Verla caminar en cámara lenta por el gimnasio, lanzando un beso como si fuera dueña del mundo, es cine puro. Rachel McAdams la interpreta con una mezcla de elegancia y veneno que hace que la odies con gusto... y tal vez la admires un poco.

But beyond the glitter and gossip, there's something deeper here. Cady’s descent into the Plastics’ toxic world is actually kind of tragic. You watch her go from this sweet, awkward girl to someone who lies, manipulates, and forgets who she is. That confrontation scene between her and Regina? It still gives me chills.

Pero más allá del brillo y los chismes, hay algo más profundo. La caída de Cady en el mundo tóxico de las “Plásticas” es en realidad algo trágico. And the four-way call scene? Cinematic gold. It perfectly captures the ridiculous intensity of teenage friendship politics. What makes it brilliant is that it’s exaggerated, sure, but not that far off from real life. We've all been part of a messy group chat or awkward triangle that spiraled out of control.

Mean Girls isn't just a comedy—it's a mirror. And sometimes, it reflects a version of ourselves we'd rather not see, but need to.
