There are many surprises in our life some of them are pleasant like a Christmas present some can be quite unpleasant like news about an increase in the cost of electricity and those surprises that are difficult to immediately define because their result is still unclear there are many such moments in the hive-engine it seems like something is happening but what exactly is not yet entirely clear like you buy coins but what will come of it is unknown lol.
On April 15th of this year I decided to draw such an unexpected meeting on a forest road that happened at night.
On the one hand meeting someone friendly on a narrow road illuminated only by the moon is not bad but it is not immediately possible to understand who exactly you met on your way and shadows always look threateningly scary.
Moreover the surprise can be a moment that each of the parties experiences of those who found themselves on the path or forest road... someone must take the first step to understand whether there is a threat or this threat is imaginary.
Paper graphite pencil and sharpener this is what I started the work with.
A shepherd dog raising one paw as an alarmed pointer does on a hunt this is the movement with which I wanted to show the alertness of one of the parties to this meeting on the forest road.
Shepherd dogs are very responsible animals and they worry not so much about themselves but about the sheep that they must bring home from the pasture.
The other party to this unexpected meeting turned out to be a large elk who did not expect to meet anyone on his way.
After the excited characters appeared in the drawing it was time to work on the night atmosphere of this forest and road.
Darkening a drawing with graphite is always a risky business full of surprises it is very easy to ruin the drawing but I decided to take the risk.
