Reputation is built from early stage of a persons life in the family circle, gradually it grows beyond family and gets to the people around you, who work with you and communicate with you on daily basis.
To build public image consistency is needed in conveying to people around you what your values are, your goals and what makes you exceptional from the people.
I care a whole lot about the image of mine out there and what it really features, if its really who i am, am also very much concerned about what people say about me.
A day in my life i came realized that good reputation and public image is very important in our everyday life.
I have never lived in Lagos all my life but to my greatest surprise when i relocated to Lagos a few people gave me a total description of my life.
I was surprised, all they said was a summon up by how i have behaved in my previous city for many years, reputation gradually builds up as people wacth you everyday do same thing over and over again.
The repeatation of good behavior builds of a good reputation for you and when you are always caught doing bad or saying bad things that will be how people will always define you and this gets to the most distant part of the world.
The fact is that its very difficult to know everyone who knows you, your name and who you are spreads to some distant part of the world that you never imagined.
My view of reputation and public image.
When i was growing up i saw the importance of good reputation and public image, my mother always emphasized on the need of building good reputation out their, let people define you with good characters not bad and that sank into my ear.
I grew up seeing people describe my mother as a God fearing woman, who doesn't allow money to move her into hurting his fellow human.
And i also saw the disgrace bad reputation always caused for some people i know, one bad thing is that is very difficult for people to see the good in you when you have already built a bad reputation about yourself.
Unfortunately my profession is a type that has that bad reputation as a tag so it was extra work for me to make people around me believe that am different from others.
I always care about how people view me so i don't get involved in anything that will make people see me as a bad person, even in my work as a nurse, most people are concerned about the money someone will pay but me am always concerned about how you will describe me to others tomorrow, i rather refer you to a hospital for treatment and lose money then save my reputation.
The fact that I can't hear what people say about me at my back and i won't know who will be in their midst as they speak about me motivates me to always value who i am in the public, how the public view me, what they say about me will bring more open doors and can also block my way of success.
To retain a good reputation,i work hard even when it's difficult to be honest, i always try to be sincere in every of my dealings with either business partners or workmates.
I am always ready to to take up task in order to gain people's trust, I value good reputation than money so I work so hard to protect my reputation and what helps me to know if I'm still good is asking friends around me to know how they feel about me and how my conduct affects them.
Good reputation is very precious to me and it gives me Joy when people give positive remarks about me.
