“These shoes are so beautiful,” I said to myself as I took a peep through the visible glass window of the Mall. It took me a while to hold myself and finally, I walked passed it. The voice in my head kept screaming “Remember your budget” I am certain that voice was screaming in my head because if it was talking I wouldn’t have heard it as the urge to get the shoe was super strong.
Making a budget is important and it is super easy but then the most difficult part is keeping to that budget and staying intact. It is just like making a study timetable, which is super easy as you could just write down the various hours you would study but then the major issue is keeping to that study timetable, can you control yourself and read for the time frame you put for yourself and avoid distractions?
My friend would always say “Money is meant to be spent, no matter the budget you keep, something will come up and you will shift away from that budget” This was the mindset I had earlier. Whenever I try saving, I get to see nicer things and things that draw my attention so I derail from my budget.
Lately, things have changed as I try to stay within my budget and try to look over those things that would make me go against my budget. The question is has it been easy, No it hasn’t but trust me when I say it has been worth it and it is going well. There are two ways I use to stay in check one of which is Self Control

Self-control has to be one thing that has been keeping me intact and within my financial budget. Like I said, before now I was someone who spent on impulse, I just spent without having a second thought and that made me go broke most times and I just trashed every budget I made. Self-control is important. Being able to control yourself from getting certain things. It takes self-control to walk by a shopping center and not spend a dime because you need to stay within budget. Everyone wants to save, but then it takes self-control to continue saving.
Another strategy I use to stay on track with my budget is avoiding impulse spending. Whenever I see things and I am tempted to get it, I have a rethink over and over again. I keep asking myself, do I need this, does it align with my budget and what effect will it have on my budget? These two steps have helped me so well with staying within my budget. They might be difficult to do but with time they would become part of you as a person.
Budget is one thing that is important to keep us on track with our financial life so we have to employ several means that would help us stay within it.
