While I've said to myself that I will never buy shitcoins, it seems that I am weaken and I've jumped into the meme wagon. Thing is that I didn't invested money from my wallet, but I've got about $200 worth in an airdrop. As I could have either to use that to buy a store of value or utility asset like Bitcoin or Ethereum, I've just said to have some fun and to get me a meme. Of course I didn't want to get into any of the most known assets as those might provide less upside. So, I've chosen another meme token and invested the free money on that. What token? Well, let's see.
I was browsing on X last night and in the same I was standing with about $220 in my wallet from an airdrop. I was search crypto news and content and the feed served me some tweets written by Eric - and we all know him as working close to the InLeo team. While it is not related in any way with this platform, I found his tweet and reasoning pretty solid so I've decided to peak one of the memes he was talking about and I've settled with NEIRO.
Starting from here I did a bit of research on Neiro and I liked the story behind it. The "Neiro" crypto meme story centers around the Neiro token, a rapidly rising meme coin inspired by a Shiba Inu dog named Neiro, adopted by the same person who owned Kabosu—the Shiba Inu that became the face of Dogecoin. After Kabosu's passing in 2023, Neiro, a 10-year-old rescue dog, was adopted and became a symbol of hope and joy. This emotional backstory fueled the creation of Neiro token.
Well, I didn't too much research because that will be too serious and I just wanted to have some fun with it. So what I've read about it, without going to the tokenomics (even if I took a peek at them), was enough to make me buy some. So I've put those $220 at work at jumped into the meme wagon with NEIRO. I've opted for the Ethereum version of it as it has also exposure by being listed on Binance.
First of all I like that there is a story behind the Neiro meme coin. Second Neiro is a dog and I am a dog person and my German Shepherds can confirm that. Third I had some free money, so it is worth to get into the rollercoaster for free. Fourth I am having fun. Fight I am already 10% in the profit and I am simply enjoying the ride. I hope that I will be inspired enough to know when to get off from the meme wagon that I find myself now. But nevertheless it is a journey, an experiment and with this one I intend to have fun regardless of the result.
PS: If I wouldn't get an unexpected airdrop and exchanged that for the $220, probably I wouldn't have invested in meme coins. I am not a maximalist in any way, but if I would have invested my own money I would prefer to invest in an utility token or something with purpose. That's my disclaimer on this in case anyone is getting hyped on it - don't invest what you are not ready to lose, especially in meme coins where 99.999% are losing money, some even all of them.
