One of the things that I look forward to is the #silvergoldstackers raffles... the giant ones that pop up every now and then... and the randomish little ones as well!
And @bulliontools has had a couple in the last couple of months... and it has always been nice to put in for a few tickets and see what pops out! Of course, being friendly and making blood sacrifices to the RNG gods always helps!
So, I've been a bit swamped with music stuff recently... ongoing planning for 2027 for our ensemble... and then the regular incoming triaging, practicing, and performing... and then the regular busy-ness of a young family... and incoming tax reporting season for ensemble and personal taxes. Sigh... but I really should set some time to get back to writing on HIVE... it does help relax and clear the mind... even if it is only 15 minutes.
Anyway, I picked up this box from the Post Office a week or so ago... and my kids were: "Why are you getting stuff from the United States?".... followed by, why is the box so bashed?
I told them that I was only expecting one thing... and that was a piece of silver! A silver coin!
... and thankfully this time, it was relatively easy to unwrap and open!
There is something even more special about picking up an ounce of pure silver these days... prices being what they are, it is next to impossible to win anything at the auctions for a non-exorbitant price... and even the bullion and coin shops don't have any spare buyback silver.
I've even been thinking about offloading some of the silver pieces that I was only buying for weight... either heavily tarnished or ones with designs I don't like (stupid Aquaman...). Or there are a lot of excess junk silver coins... old faded ones from the early 20th century.
I'll get around to sorting and putting those aside soon (I said that a few months ago...).... and then probably see what I can get via the auction house or coin dealer... I really don't want to have to deal with people/bots/scammers on Facebook or stuff like that.
A Malta coin... weirdly enough, this is the first Malta coin that I have in my collection! A really nice intricate but not crazily busy design. I do like this one... there is something about the canvas of the silver coin which lends itself to intricate simplicity... some of them are too busy... and others too plain... the balance is hard I think... and then ones with photo portraits just cut and paste one are the worst... people generally end up looking like ghouls.
... and if I was impressed by the other side... this side is even better, the raised coat of arms! Wow, this is a definitely a beautiful coin and design that will stay in the collection for a very very long time!
