Sometimes it begins to strike me. Most of those people conveniently disappeared when I needed assistance the most. Messages go unread; calls not returned; so many excuses.
It begins to make me think - are my friends so interested in me, or the things I can provide for them? It hurt, of course but, it taught me a valuable lesson: People who care about you genuinely would ask you about yourself and your life even if they needed nothing from you.
They would continue to care, continue to engage with you and continue to be the kind of supportive friend one hopes for even after you no longer have any favours to share.People only care about you to the degree you can be of value to them.
This is why even the family of a mad person would lock and tie them up giving them just the bare minimum because at that point they have stopped becoming of value. At the end of the day, even if you die, people will just move on and continue with life because that is just the way this world was built.
It is the cruelty of life and the only way to cause a change is by learning to care. But then it’s difficult because sometimes not caring is a way of protecting ones self and caring requires one to be selfless.it is that no one cares if you are good and no one cares if you are bad. No one cares if you have a good heart and no one cares if you have a wicked heart.
The only thing people really care about is how your actions affect them. If it doesn’t affect them in any way they do not care and this is very okay because it is just human nature. The only person who is very interested in your growth is you, every other person who seems to care only does so because they are involved in it somehow.
