If we talk only about the exams then yes a person who is topper is intelligent. But if we talk about the overall things from work to any other kind of work and he might be good in that of course marks doesn't care. Well even age depends on the intelligence. When I was kid I was not that much good in studies I was hating it and running from such things but as I have grown I really use my mind I started understanding the things very easily and when I was learning by myself I use to score good marks in exam.
We can say that exams are one of the oldest ways we have found to try to measure someone's knowledge. From an early age, we learn that studying means preparing for a test, memorizing certain subjects, and then trying to put everything we learned down on paper in a few hours. A good grade means that we learned, while a bad grade often gives the impression that we know nothing.
Can a test actually measure a person's intelligence, or is it simply measuring their ability to memorize information for a certain period of time? This is a question I find quite interesting, especially because intelligence and memory are completely different things.
I'm not saying that exams are not important. They have their value, and somehow we need methods to evaluate the knowledge we have acquired. The problem begins when we turn a test into a kind of absolute truth about what a person knows or is capable of doing.
We can memorize a formula, learn a definition by heart, or study exactly the content that will probably appear on the test and get an excellent grade. But what happens when we need to use that knowledge in a completely different situation.That's when we realize that knowing how to answer a question and knowing how to apply knowledge can be two very different things.
In real life, we almost never receive a problem that is exactly the same as the example we studied.From childhood till we grow up, we keep giving exams of some kind or the other. When we are small children, we give exams in school. When we grow a little older, we give exams in college. When we grow a little older, we give entrance exams.
This cycle continues in the same way. And you are judged on the basis of your exam marks and it is decided which child is intelligent and which is not. Often the children who score very good marks in their class are looked upon with a lot of respect and people also appreciate them a lot but the people who score less marks are looked upon with little respect and this happens often.
Marks do not decide whether you are intelligent or not. Many people are very good in studies and they are very sharp minded too and they have the capability to crack any kind of exam because they have the capability within them that they can do anything. These things are different in every case, some people are very sharp but some people take their time to get their at their own pace.
