Hello everyone, you're welcome to my blog today.

Unexpected connections, just like people find love in strange places, people find connections in strange places too. An unexpected connection can change someone's life for generations and can bring someone out of poverty.

Let's dive into the story.
David, a young man in his late 20s, grew up in Anambra with his family—his parents and his siblings. He was the first son of the family, so most of the responsibilities were on his shoulders. He was a very hardworking young man.

His father, a retired civil servant, spent his days at home. It was hard for him to find something else to do, as he never made any major investments while he was still in civil service. His mother was a trader, and he had three sisters. He was the only son of his family. His older sister was just 18 years old, the second was 13, and the youngest was still in primary school. He had to support his mother, and they had to manage his father's pension to be able to sponsor their education.

His parents were people who truly valued education; they believed that the best gift you can give to a child is a good education. You know how market life can be sometimes—good and sometimes bad. The market began to go down in a very bad way for his mother; she would go out and come back without anything to show for it. David's father couldn't work anymore as he was aging and had already retired. The burden of the family was left on David and his mother.

David did all sorts of petty businesses just to be able to raise money for his sisters' school fees. He had always dreamed of going to Lagos to search for greener pastures and better opportunities, but they never came. He never had that kind of connection, and it kept weighing him down because staying in the village in Anambra was not the best for a man of his age.

A job vacancy came up at a bakery not far from their house, just across the junction. He started working there; the pay was not too much, but it was something to keep him going. He worked there for about six months, and they were able to put his older sister in school, whose name is Amara.

Amara, who just turned 18, was ready to go into university, and university education is very expensive. He was able to save up money and help her enroll, still looking for other things to do to sponsor her school fees until she graduated. Meanwhile, the other two sisters also had their secondary school education going on; one was about to write Junior WAEC.

Peculiar and Favor were his brilliant sisters, and they looked up to their brother so much. He made a promise to them never to fail them. Every day, their mother would go on her knees praying for her children, especially for David, who was the first son and carried a lot of burden. She would always pray for unexpected connections; she would always ask God to give her son connections from unexpected places and unexpected people.

On a very good day, while distributing bread from the bakery, he ran into an old school classmate, Michael. Michael saw him and immediately recognized him; they both hugged each other and laughed.

Michael shouted, "My guy, how are you now?"
David told him, "Life no dey really easy," and explained everything that had been happening. Michael said, "Wow, you’ve really been through a lot. Well, I run a transportation company. Do you know how to drive?" He said yes. Then Michael told him, "Well, you would not be driving; you would be managing my drivers for me, as I am not always in the country to manage that." Fortunately, the location was in Lagos. David was so excited; he couldn't wait to get back home to share this good news with his family.

When he got home that night, his mom saw the excitement on his face and asked what happened. He shouted, "Mama, unexpected connections have happened though, according to your prayers."
His mom, a typical African mother, started dancing around to African gospel music. She didn't even want to know what the connection was about; she was just happy about it.

Finally, he told them everything, and the whole family started making preparations for him to go to Lagos. David was excited as well; Michael, who was still in town, asked him to get his things ready so both of them would go back to Lagos together. A week later, he went to Lagos with Michael and became the logistics manager for Michael's company.

Sitting down one day in the cool of the evening, David thought to himself that unexpected connections really work well. It is good to be good to people because David and Michael were not close friends in school; they were just classmates, but he never treated him badly in any way. So, unexpected connections can come from the least expected places, just like it came for David.
