WHAT DO PEOPLE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING IN A RESPONSIBLE WOMAN

Hello everyone, you’re welcome to my blog.

Having grown up in an environment where some people reduced women to nothing more than cleaning and child-bearing tools, I developed a different perspective on what responsibility means. In many African households, women are often perceived or seen as being solely responsible for domestic duties, with every concern of the house assigned to them aside from providing, and with very little expectation of involvement in the wider world.

This perception is largely inaccurate. In reality, women today are achieving significant milestones and setting world records across various fields. In our society today, women frequently demonstrate greater responsibility than men, having acquired the skills, strategies, and models necessary to succeed and lead.

Unlike in previous decades, when women were seen only as housekeepers and child bearers, it’s no longer the same in today’s world. The tables have turned, and a lot of responsibilities now rest on women. This isn’t about competition with men; rather, it’s about showing that women also have the ability and possess the power to voice out and be heard.

We can literally take part in various activities that require learning, emulation, and growth. I also believe that a responsible woman takes care of herself. Growing up, I often heard people talk about women sacrificing everything for others. While caring for family and loved ones is important, I think responsibility also includes looking after one's physical health, mental well-being, and personal growth.

A woman who values herself is usually in a better position to support those around her. I think responsibility begins with oneself. It means being honest about who we are, what we want, and what we believe in—not just following what others expect from us. It also means taking ownership of our choices. When things go well, we celebrate them; but when mistakes happen, we don’t have to run away from them; we have to learn from them. That, to me, is a big part of growing up and becoming stronger.

Being responsible is learning to stand on our own feet. And I don’t just mean financially, although that is important too. I also mean emotionally and mentally. Being able to think for ourselves, make our own decisions, and not constantly seek approval from others. It’s not always easy, especially with so many opinions around us, but I think it’s important to slowly build that inner confidence.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.
