A big change I'll be doing this year is being a little more hive focused. That means instead of just blog posts and some general marketing I'll be taking a much more proactive approach to it.
In this article I want to teach others how they can earn on hive but also the critical importance of what hive power is, why you'd want to power up more and all the cool things you can do with it.
Earning Hive
Hive is currently earned by many via the rewards pool. A set amount of hive each day that is divided up across all votes on hive via the weight. While this is currently the main way for many it's not the only way. Hive offers a great deal of other options.
Layer 2 Tokens
Hive-engine offers up a unique way to start tapping into "layer 2" tokens. Some of the big ones are the LEO token for the InLEO website but there's countless others that hold some value to them.
Not only that but these tokens are also used in the gaming space. Hive games like DCrops, Splinterlands. Terracore, Holozing and many others also present unique ways to start building hive earnings from gaming.
Video
There's also video posting on 3speak for long form and a weird style of short form at the moment lol. Vimm.tv for live streaming.
Evergreen
I'm also sure 2024 will hold a lot of new updates in this space allowing for more content types and earning potential.
In fact as of today InLEO is now offering up evergreen rewards on articles based on the amount of traffic your articles get over the month. This means you'll be earning some LEO from your articles published FOREVER as long as they generate some traffic. This to be is yet another great step in the right direction for the blockchain that has been mainly promoted as a place for content creation and to earn from it.
Curation
One of the big ways to earn more hive is by having hive itself. Not only will you earn a APY from hive of close to 3% but you'll also earn by voting on others content to the tune of around 7%-11% APR for curation rewards. This should bring your total rewards of hive up to around 10% on average. Have 100,000 Hive powered up? With a little effort each day you should be making 10,000 hive per year!
Liquidity
This is an odd ball one at the moment for sure but there are ways to help build liquidity and earn hive as well. Many of these offer some rather decent APRs at the moment. These are known as Tribaldex Dieselpools by creating pairs of tokens you'll earn rewards for most (not all) pairings that you do. You'll also earn fees from people using the liquidity pools. Most of the value on these come from game pairings at the moment.
Node/Witness
You can also earn hive by running a node that supports the hive blockchain. Nodes or witnesses are people running systems with the hive blockchain on them and are there to process blocks. Your hive power and others hive power is able to cast votes on what witnesses you want to support. Be in the top 20 and you'll be earning some rather nice rewards in hive each month. But there's also backup nodes for when missed or failed blocks happen with the main witnesses.
For myself I'll be combining all of these on a much greater level this year. The goal now is to reach 150,000 hive as quickly as possible but to be honest there really isn't one set goal as to how much I want to have. I guess it would be simple enough to say however much I can get and more is better.
What are some of your goals with $HIVE this year?
