This week we got some updates across applications across the hive blockchain. We also saw one of the biggest advancements in web3 in a very long time and it happened right here on Hive! So let's jump into what's new on the hive blockchain this week, what we are looking forward to and then a quick recap of some of my own goals and process on that.

What's New On Hive

This week I want to start with the biggest update I think to ever hit web3 or at least my visions and definition of what web3 is and should be.

That was the introduction of the first ever payout from LEOADS!

What is LeoAds You ask?

Well on the InLeo front end using threads or the article part of it you'll see ads being run on it. These ads generate revenue in the form of $ value at the moment. Each week or every so many days at random the smart contract takes the $ generated and then buys LEO tokens off of Ethereum, Binannce, and/or hive depending on the lowest price. At the start of each month those have at least been a little active on the Leo front end and hold staked LEO get a payout.

In my case for the first test run of this I picked up 434 more LEO tokens worth roughly $21. But I don't think we will know the real number here until a good two or three months in as we start to see the average picked up. Also with this new buying pressure we very well might see the LEO price of the token increase as well.

This to me is the start of something great and a vision I've had myself about how web3 would work. Where no matter how big or small of a user you are you would be rewarded through a payout from the platforms revenue generated. In web2 companies hord this money themselves. Take a look at Facebook for example. Millions if not billions every year where you don't earn a single penny for posting content up and using their platform and instead just make Facebooks CEOs richer while they steal all of your information and invade your privacy. Sounds pretty F'ed up right? It is! So in web3 we are starting to change that through better privacy or at least getting paid your fair share for sharing such information.

So what else is new?

We got some news form Splinterlands that come Tuesday after the normal maintenance window we should se the release of the new airdrop system where battle wagons will be used. It seems like it's going to pull a decent amount of vouchers, DEC and other assets to the game.

Instead of before where you just bought packs and could sell them. You actully have to hold the packs and cards, buy a battle wagon and then actively work them kind of like you do with land but only packs from the new Rebellion will be counted.

This small but important change will start to bring values into the cards based on the time and also initial money factor that has to be put into being able to get them airdropped to you. Primarily this should start to bring value back into vouchers and maybe DEC after that point which then should trigger SPS to be burned and rally a bit as well. These new systems are injecting value back into the game in which the play base gets to enjoy!

My Goals

I have a few primary goals this year which I want to go over.

$LEO

Goal: 150,000 Current: 121,061.07 Needed per Day: 83.88

This is a goal I should be able to hit. Currently my per day is a bit behind so I'm going to have to adjust a bit in order to beat that daily. Beating that daily needed per day is going to set me on a faster course of hitting that goal which is something I want to do. The sooner I can hit a goal the more flexibility I have then after.

$HIVE

Goal: As Much As Possible Current: 104,512.46

This one is just to stack as much as possible as quickly as possible. I may start to venture into some alternative means to pick up even more but that will most likely come summer of this year.

My primary goals now are to get two nodes up and running a hive-engine node which I've messed with a few times to setup and just kill it after each setup as I want to continue to learn it. The other is to run a hive node which I'm going to ask for a little bit of help with first in order to learn that one better and troubleshoot any issues that may come up.

By holding a good amount of hive and worker bee it means I'm going to have a little more say in things and also help rank my nodes since I can vote for myself.

After these are up and running and doing well I'll start planning for other sources to generate more hive. I thought I was going to be able to tap into VCS but it seems like that's a good end of the year out from what I've seen. I wasn't very happy about that type of time frame and honestly with that setup I'm totally expecting we will not see it until summer of 2025 with the way development always goes. There's always unforeseen things that make projects longer and in extremely rare cases a little shorter.

If I had to throw another goal in here it might be to add 7,000 HBD into savings. Mainly the reason for this would be to pay for the nodes outright and cover their costs. The 20% APR on 7k HBD would be enough to cover the fees of running these nodes making anything they do generate a profit. Of course I would want my node to be profitable on itself but I believe it will take a little time to get to that point.
