Hello, Splinter fans!
Once again I'm here to tell you I'm on a shoestring budget when it comes to acquiring Splinterlands assets and yes, there sure are some temptations.
The brand-new Rebellion edition has been playable now for a week or two and I'm checking up on the card market daily to see if I can find bargains and flip my cards back and forth to eventually land with better cards in hand.
Today I am going to share some of my trades with you, analyze a little bit about the possible demand for these cards and tell you a bit what I'm planning to do next.
Let's start with a sale first.
SALE
In one of my recent posts I was speculating on the future price of ANASTH SOOTHSAYER, a Water Splinter magic monster with Cleanse ability to start with. I clearly misjudged the demand for this one as I was guessing its price to settle somewhere near levels of $0.30 - $0.50.
The cheapest card costs $1.42 on the market at the moment while I sold it at $2.04. Perhaps the high price of Sootsayer can be explained by the abilities it will get even on lower levels - players are upgrading it to at least level 4 as that is when Soothsayer will receive the Lookout ability.

These abilities are sure to make any Splinterlands player drool a bit but currently, this didn't fit into my Water Magic plans. Instead, I decided to sell the only copy I had and use the DEC to invest in two cards that I not only believe will increase in value but will add to my gameplay as well.
Let's have a look!
BUYS
ANACHRON BOLTER is a Life Splinter unit with a double attack of ranged and magic. What appealed to me in this one was the possibility of doubling the ranged attack with General Sloan's summoner buff as the magic attack comes as a nice bonus.
This monster will also be good against other ranged teams because of its Headwinds ability which will reduce ranged attacks by one.
According to Peakmonsters, I paid $0.84 for Anachron Bolter while its current price is at $0.81. However, I do believe there could be a demand for Bolter as it will receive an interesting ability on level 6. Repair is one of my favourite abilities and I try to incorporate a monster with it into my roster any time I can.
If higher-level players believe they will gain significant advantage with the Bolter having Repair, it could really increase demand at some point as a total of 60 cards is needed to reach level 6.

Even though the price of NOMOS has declined from $0.827 which is how much it cost when I bought it, I still believe there's going to be demand for not only this one but for all summoners as well.
There are a couple of reasons for this: first of all, to play upgraded cards at their highest level, the summoner also needs to be upgraded to meet the current league requirements. Upgraded cards will permanently remove cards from circulation and therefore reduce supply.
Secondly, the possibility to choose between two summoner buffs is a new aspect of the game and I'm pretty sure many players haven't yet grasped the concept but once they do, I'm sure the demand for double-buff summoners will increase.
As for Nomos, the buff that will allow you to reduce the magic attack of two monsters by 2 could be really effective against magic buff summoners such as Alric Stormbringer and Obsidian.

Another thing that could also create additional demand is the upcoming Conflicts staking system. It was supposed to have gone live already but just recently I read that it was postponed for later so that the team could have some rest and if I may add, that's well-deserved after many updates and improvements!
So, we haven't yet seen the effect Conflicts staking will have on the Rebellion card market but I believe there should be some kind of FOMO when players realize they get more points toward the airdrop when they upgrade their cards.
PLANS
MOXIAN REBEL is definitely one of my long-term targets. I already have a copy but I'm getting some minus points for using such a lower-level card so I need to upgrade to at least level 2.
That's easier said than done as others have noticed the sheer awesomeness of this monster and the price is relatively high being currently at $1.88.

If it ever should come down enough for my shoestring budget, I would go for level 4 (25 cards) as the Rebel would then get Camouflage, a perfect ability to hide this fragile, yet useful unit.
While waiting for the price of Moxian to come down (a lot!), I am going to focus on cards I can afford right now.
TORCH VIZIER is a Fire Splinter unit I have been looking at, drooling, for some time now. It would be an amazing addition to my fire melee monsters meant to be used with the summoner Tarsa and her +1 Melee buff.
Opportunity is one of my favourite abilities when my units have it, not the opponent's ones. Torch definitely has and it also has a good amount of speed, helping it potentially land the first strike and perhaps take out enemy opportunity monsters before they can do some harm.

What's also great is the fact that Torch Vizier would have its melee attack increase to 3 as soon as on level 2. This with Tarsa's buff would increase its melee attack strength to 4 making it very lethal to opponent monsters without armour. A must-have.
Torch Vizier is on sale for $0.71 which is a pretty good price for such a class unit in my opinion.
Conclusion
As the Rebellion Conflicts update has been pushed into next year, I now have some extra time to get my troops ready for both battle and staking. If I remember correctly, there weren't that many card slots on the Battle Wagon(5, I think?) so it would make sense to focus on just a few cards I use a lot, upgrade them as far as I can get, and then stake & battle.
Time will tell whether it'll be enough for the airdrop or not but at least I would then have upgraded the cards that fit my strategies and which I would actually be using a lot.
It is also worth mentioning that as we are getting closer and closer to Conflicts, the FOMO might start growing in me and I may need to feed that urge and buy a couple more packs...
