Greetings Splinterlands fans!

To be honest, I spend little, or no time at all on Splinterlands forums so I am quite unaware of the latest trends and strategies. So, the only way for me to develop my gameplay is through trial and error. I love the feeling I get when I've discovered something new like I did just a few hours ago.

The thing I didn't know about the Weapons Training ability was the fact that you can expose a non-attacking monster to two trainers! This discovery was made by accident when I pulled 2x copies of Legendary Berix Snakeye from a daily gold chest and decided to do a little test drive so this post will not be just about a great battle, but also about the joy of discovery in this awesome game.

Let's jump in!

My Team

Another new addition to my collection is a Dragon Splinter summoner - Delwyn Dragonscale.

About a month ago I noticed many Delwyn cards on sale for as low as $0.42(now $0.74) and saw an opportunity to buy and upgrade.

Now at level 3, Delwyn is great in boosting my Death Splinter magic schemes.

This battle had a mana cap of 57 so I decided to go with a double tank strategy putting DJINN MUIRAT in front. Muirat is a pretty good tank against magic teams because of its Void Armor ability and relatively strong armor.

Behind the Djinn is lurking USUT. This flying creature is packed with the dreaded Bloodlust ability. My idea here is to play some time so hopefully, Muirat will last long enough for Usut to be able to trigger the Bloodlust and be much stronger when it's his time to step up.

Next up we have these two - a trainer and a trainee.

One of my new favorite units is SKOK DUSKBLIGHT. This Weapons Trainer will teach his apprentice some magic attacks and even in the unfortunate case of Dusk dying, the trainee will still have a full amount of magic striking power.

(One of the trainees) in this battle is WILL-O-WISP, another flying thing who also possess the Weaken ability. Because of this entity's high amount of health, it also works as a good buffer and might therefore be able to protect its trainer if my tanks should fall.

Here comes the interesting part I mentioned earlier!

As you can see, my second weapons trainee, the usually idle and peaceful GELATINOUS CUBE has become a true killing machine thanks to the wisdom shared not only by Skok but also BERIX SNAKEYE.

Take a moment and just a look at the Cube... The best thing is that since it's so far back, it'll have time to use Scavenger ability and gain health so if my frontline should perish, Cube would be standing as a very strong tank and still be able to fight thanks to its magic attack.

It would also protect Berix, who by the way, is quite well protected himself because of heavy armor and Void armor.

Entering The Arena

To my disappointment, the opponent chose to use Thaddius Brood as a summoner. This means he will mitigate my awesome magic superiority and reduce all my attacks by one point. Still, Delwyn Dragonscale is great for situations like this because now I'm at least allowed to keep the base magic strength.

As for the rest of their team, it seems they are partly using the same strategy as I am. They have selected Ulundun Overseer and Riftwing, two idle monsters, to learn from their trainer - Skok.

Other than that, there seems to be a good amount of firepower in the back. Both Ranged and magic. An even battle ahead.

The Battle

I almost forgot the most important part! The actual battle. You can watch the whole show by clicking this link, or/and continue reading my battle report below.

ROUND 1

As I suspected, the battle started as a very even one while both teams were landing punches. We managed to remove their Helmeim Demon which was quite an obvious pick as it had the Taunt ability. Unfortunately, we lost our first-in-line tank.

ROUND 2

Usut was now in front but it was the killer Cube who got to shine. Our square here landed both of his attacks, knocked down the Ulundun Overseer, and absorbed another health point as a reward.

ROUND 3

The fierce battle continued in the third round which wasn't our best play as we lost Usut before he even got to trigger the Bloodlust.

ROUND 4

Now it was payback time. We got rid of their Riftwing before it could gain more health and become a problem.

Their backline was still alive and well and Daigendark Hunter managed to snipe my Berix. Nevertheless, as you can see, Gelatinous Cube had grown in size and had now become a real threat.

Being the slowest monster on the battlefield Cube was the last one to attack. With precision, it quickly took out both of these with magic and ranged attacks. The Game was over.

Conclusion

It's interesting. I don't see Gelatinous Cube that often on the battlefield which is strange since there should be enough weapons trainers and being a Neutral unit, it can be put together with anyone!

Besides that, imagine this kinda setup with an Earthquake or Noxious fumes rulesets. The Cube would be somewhat safe as it would gain health from the deceased to mitigate the negative effects of those rules.

In my opinion, Gelatinous Cube which only costs 6 mana, is currently the most overlooked unit in the game. Prove me wrong. ๐Ÿ‘‡
