Hello everyone, This is @cantfoldaces participating in the Weekly Battle Mage Secrets Challenge, in the best #play2earn game out there!! #splinterlands!!

What's happening with the new ranked changes !? Now I'm at around 850 rating and facing a max level Kelya! I never seen a Pelacor Conjurer this scary :') So I have decided to wait a little bit before this things calm down and players move up in leagues but ended up renting some max level cards and go through this advanture!
Well for this time, this is one of my Silver Level battles prior to the changes:

Equalizer

  • All unit start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team.

  • Buffs and debuffs are done afterward - this impacts base health

Regarding this ruleset, I'm always confused about playing about all monsters having the same starting Health and most of the time getting my arse kicked but luckily, I've manage to snag a decent win to be able to share it for this week's challenge.

One thing I've noticed is some 1 Health monsters are extremely powerful in this ruleset naming the Soulbound Card Dumacke Orc and the Rare Fire Cards Exploding Rats

Without further ado, let's get starting:

  • Mid High Mana Cap 34 Mana
  • Earth, Death, Dragon Available
  • Equalizer + Little League Rulesets

I have decided to go with the following team :

Summoner

Image from thread

Ability: -1 Magic -1 Health
First, Death got many monsters with low mana and high utility in terms of abilities and damage that would be explained below. Second, -1 Magic is OP in nerfing a potential Obsidian buff and -1 Health in nerfing the enemies health bar although it won't be too useful in Equalizer ruleset

Tank Positionhttps://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Riftwing_lv5.png

Ability: Flying + Scavenger + Backfire

Riftwing plays the part of the tank very well especially becuase of the evasiveness with its High Speed + Flying while punishing them with the Backfire ability (dealing 2 Damage)
The Scavange helps a ton in keeping the Riftwing gaining health the longer the battle drags on!

2nd Positionhttps://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/reward/Venari%20Bonesmith_lv4.png

Ability: Life Leech + Poison

What makes this monster as my favorite secondary tank is the fact that it gains health with the life leech ability leading to a decent tankiness when it comes to its turn to occupy the tank position.
On the other hand, his Poison ability makes it even more deadly especially in the context on the Equalizer Ruleset!

3rd Position

Image from thread

Ability: Life Leech

Another monster with the life leech ability making its utility similar to the Venari Bonesmith
Let's not forget the fact of the Equalizer Ruleset associated with the Life Leech ability makes these monsters even tankier the longest the battle drags on!

4th Position

Ability: Protect

Adding to the natural tankiness of all the participating monsters on the battlefield, it should be beneficial to provide even more protection against the Melee and Ranged Damage with the Protect Ability!

5th Positionhttps://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Soul%20Strangler_lv4.png

Ability: None
Putting this Monster on the back in order to benefit from its raw Ranged damage at 3 each turn and the equalizer ruleset compensate for its low base health

6th Positionhttps://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Weirding%20Warrior_lv3.png

Ability: Shatter
A high utility 2 Mana card, first the shatter ability destroys the enemy's armor and my attacks won't be wasted on that given armor and second, 2 Ranged damage with decent speed is always helpful! Again Equalizer benefits his natural low base health.

Pre Round 1

Image from thread

Welp the enemy pick was kind of annoying for my team, not only it nerfed the archery damage for my main damage dealers but also with the speed reductions, my riftwing will be less likely to evade shots!

Round 1

Image from thread

  • Against 3 Magic attacks dealers, Riftwing didn't have a choice but to take on the, atleast nerfed, magic damage. On the other side, it was so satisfying evading that shot from soul strangler and eveb better, Backfire
  • Venari landed a much needed Poison on the Shielded Crypt Beetle followed by a Shatter and a series of damage from all the allies leaving it with a single health!

Round 2

Image from thread

  • The poison eliminated Crypt Beetle from the get go!
  • Riftwing couldn't handle all the upcoming damage and got eliminated by the enemy Soul Strangler
  • Into Revealer turn getting poisonned but didn't make it till the end of the round by getting eliminated by ally Soul Strangler

Round 3

Image from thread

  • Both Venaris exchanged their poisonous magic bolts while tanking all shots
  • At the end, the enemy venari got eliminated even before the Poison kicks off
  • Life Sapper keeps on gaining more and more Health

Round 4+5

Image from thread

  • Venari got eliminated after the poison damage and tanking the damages from the enemy team
  • It took a couple of rounds to get over the enemy Life Sapper after accumulating a lot of Health during the battle
  • Protect comes in handy against the deadly attacks from Enemy Soul Strangler
  • Nothing much is left as Life Sapper got quickly eliminated and took some time to get through that clock.
  • Finally claming the VICTORY for +33 Trophies & +0.576 SPS

After Battle Commentary

  • Despite Enemy having a large speed advantage in addition to many Magic Damage dealers, it could've been better for him to put an additional damage dealer instead of focusing on speed buffs

  • All in All I'm pretty satisfied with my team's selection and wanna point out on the importance of Protect in these little league battles!
