Greetings to my friends at Hive and @fulldeportes. Today I’m going to share with you my mountain walking training session, which I did on the Los Chivos – El Ancón trail, in the community of Villa de Cura, Zamora municipality, Aragua state.

It’s worth noting that I hadn’t been training since Wednesday because I’d been quite busy with my son’s football; I couldn’t train at the weekend, which is when I usually do, but as I’m now on holiday, I made the most of today. Even though it rained and then cleared up, I set off from Lisandro Hernández Avenue and then headed up Los Chivos hill. The path was a bit damp, so I started climbing at 80 per cent intensity because there was someone walking ahead of me and I picked up the pace to overtake them.

Also, when I reached the top of the first climb, my time was 8 minutes and 35 seconds; I then carried on, trying to maintain that same pace. I’d thought it would be cool, but it turned out to be quite hot – I imagine there was a lot of humidity on the mountain. I completed the second climb in 13 minutes and picked up the pace to see if I could finish in under 16 minutes; by the time I reached the third mountain, the Strava app recorded a time of 15 minutes and 40 seconds.

I then continued my route, beginning the descent and heading towards Cerro Los Chivos, where the climb began again until I reached Las Torres. At this point, I was nearly at La Piedra, which I passed in 36 minutes. I maintained the same pace throughout this section and, upon reaching the spot overlooking Taguguay Lagoon, my time was 45 minutes and 40 seconds; my personal best is 42 minutes.

I then headed down a dirt track and decided to make my way down to the rural settlement of El Ancón. My phone started warning me that the battery was low; I thought I wouldn’t be able to take any more photos, but I did manage to take several shots. I arrived at El Ancón, having covered a distance of 5K, then walked about 500 metres to exit via the community of Las Mercedes, where I had covered a distance of 8K. Finally, I made it back to Lisandro Hernández, having covered a distance of 10K in a time of 1 hour 48 minutes, which was recorded on the Strava app, but the route wasn’t saved because my phone switched off when I finished.
