When people hear the word 'DEPRESSION,' many things come playing in their head and mostly they see depressed people as sadists who only spend their lives crying, complaining and being weak but I can
rightly say that you can look happy and still be depressed. This, I have learned from reading and listening to people who have suffered the ailment.

Depression is a confusing condition, and it
affects each person differently. The symptoms can also vary and can change from simply bothersome to totally debilitating. Depression is more than feeling unhappy or being upset for a
few days. We all go through periods of feeling down, but when a person is truly depressed, they will feel sad for several weeks, months or ever years, instead of a couple of days.
Depression is very real, and it is not something that one can simply "snap out of", nor a sign of weakness. One of the reasons people have a difficult time understanding depression is that it
affects those who have it in different ways.

Some common symptoms of depression
include;.feelings of sadness, feelings of hopelessness, loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy, crying, feeling anxious, having no sex drive, loss of appetite, .etc.

The severity of depression varies from one
person to another, but is usually divided as
follows;

  • Severe depression. Those with severe
depression have depression that affects all
    aspects of their lives.

  • Modedate depression. These ones usually have several symptoms related to depression, and their lives are affected by these symptoms.

  • Mild depression. With mild depression, a
person will have at least five depression
symptoms and their lives are only mildly
    affected.

So, if you don't develop intense negative
emotions towards something, If you don't get addicted to your thoughts about
something, you are likely not going to get depressed.

Now, take a look at people who are suicidal or depressed. This is how it goes. Something happens, their moods change(it always starts with a change of mood.) Then, they don't try to switch back, they instead create a situation that makes them fall deeper. They isolate immediately, reach for their phones and play sad songs. Then they start thinking, making conclusions and on and on.
So, if you are capable of causing depression to yourself, If you are capable of creating a situation where depression grows, Then you might as well be capable of creating a situation where your emotions works for you instead of against you.
You should be capable of creating a situation where the depression doesn't live.
You see, the line between insanity and sanity is very thin. Very very thin. Once you keep pushing it, one day you will push it, and it will remain that way.

Avoiding depression involves a combination of lifestyle changes, self-care practices, and seeking professional help when needed.
