There is this popular saying: "Trust your gut." For me it is advice that sounds so simple but can also be difficult to follow when it comes to instinct. They are not based on complete facts; they are quick feelings and our inner minds that tell us to move in a particular direction. Here comes the big question: How much do you trust your instinct?
For me, instincts have value; there were some situations where I made decisions with little clue, and I came up with the conclusion. Most times I ask myself, is it that my brain always notices patterns that I am not consciously aware of? At that moment the observation can be seen as a gut feeling. There have been situations where I meet someone for the first time, and what they say may be right, but inside me, something may feel off about that person. You can’t just place your hand on anything, but then your instinct keeps telling you to be careful. Maybe after some days you will find out that your instinct never lied to you. There are some sets of people that, if they fail to follow their instincts, will regret not doing that. I am of the ideology that instinct works. One thing about me is my mind always picks subtle clues, be it body language or voice. My conscious mind may not process it, but my subconscious did.

Our instinct cannot be trusted 100%. Instinct can point to a direction, but it is only facts that will help you confirm whether the direction is sensible. In most cases this instinct can be useful and dangerous. On the positive side of it, it helps us to identify potential before it becomes a big problem; listening to our feelings sometimes saves us from trouble.
The best time to treat instinct is at the early stage, not at the final stage. Whenever my gut tells me something is wrong, I try my best to pay attention to it, not ignore it. Most times, our instinct cannot be wrong; also, our instinct cannot be too correct. We need to gather facts before we assume that our instinct is right. I am among the people that review my instinct before I follow it. Instinct can be wrong sometimes; that is one thing we should all have in mind.
Instinct cannot be right all the time; that doesn’t mean we should stop trusting our instinct. Rather, we should reflect and ask ourselves some basic questions. For someone like me, instinct is a useful tool for me and not a perfect guide. Instinct helps us navigate some situations; trusting our gut sometimes can help us make the best decisions.
Lastly, instinct is one of the things that make us human; it is very important we learn how to listen to our instincts and make the best decisions.
