Many parents do not appreciate music or musical activities. In essence, music is something that nourishes the mind and brings a sense of fulfillment.

We all want our students to excel in their studies and bring honor to our school, our village, and even the entire nation. Yet, we often overlook the importance of their mental well-being—a significant oversight.

Students frequently experience fatigue from their academic pursuits. To alleviate this, they certainly need some form of recreation, and for many, music—in its various forms—serves as the most effective source of entertainment.

I have observed several schools and colleges where, on Thursdays, classes are held for only half the day. Before dismissal, all students gather in a hall, where musical instruments are played, and various activities—such as singing, dancing, comedy performances, and even the singing of ghazals—are organized. The primary objective is to provide the students with a refreshing, entertaining experience.

Engaging in music alongside their studies helps students dispel any underlying sadness or distress. Music fosters joy and uplifts the spirit, which, in turn, enhances a student's focus on their academic work.

This is an area where we have a clear responsibility. Students undoubtedly need recreation; therefore, as parents, we should encourage and support them in exploring music. When students grow weary of their studies, they require a break—a form of entertainment. Consequently, both schools and families must collaborate on this. Dedicating half of every Thursday to recreational activities, rather than solely to academics, would greatly motivate the students.

I believe that students should engage in music as a form of recreation alongside their formal education. What are your thoughts on this?
