I am seeing a lot of people are now saying that we can gain much more money when we invest manually than SIP. There argument is that keep the money with you rather than investing in SIP and then whenever market goes down (like today when the market gone down by 1.5%) by 1% then invest.

In this way you will get more units as the NAV would be less. Now this works but in the longer run this doesn't make much of a difference. I feel SIP is much better option because that gives you the discipline which you want in your investment journey. For me I make sure the amount stays in my bank account whenever the SIP date is coming up. If it would have been in .y bank account, I might end up investing in any other place or might use it.

So the SIP mode gives that consistency and discipline, which I am trying to follow. I have started SIP with just Rs 1K back in 2017 but now I increased the SIP 25X from my initial amount and will continue to invest more.

The thing is what we can do is that you continue your SIP and whenever the market goes down by 1%, invest more if you have. In this way you will be disciplined and along with that your extra money can be used to get more units when the market fall.

For example, I am investing in the Nifty 50 Index using NiftyBees ETF. Since the market gone down today, I have bought some more today as the market fall by more than 1%. Yeah I know, there might be cash crunch in investing over and above your SIP. So it's better to lower your SIP and get some money for days like these or try to save more.

For example, if I have Rs 100 to invest, I will invest Rs 75 through the SIP and the remaining Rs 25 will be kept in cash for the moments to invest when the market goes down.
