Fantasy genre, mainly vampires. I love this genre and write about it often: the sacrifice, the elements of psychology, the feeling that you have to let go even though you've lived many years and feel like you should still get to live.

I'm not sure what exactly draws me in, but I think it's the unnamed afflictions, the way they're portrayed with more nuance, the way these stories can move without leaning too heavily on people or on dark themes to grab attention.

When I see people say "why aren't more of these movies, or especially shows, being made anymore," I agree. There used to be a steady stream of them, but now I feel a bit deprived.

The show about Lestat is on air, but I haven't watched it yet. Interview with the Vampire was quite good, though its modern elements (covid and so on) felt a bit unpolished. Even so, I plan to watch it, and I expect it will be good. Lestat's story was always the glue of the original tale, first introduced as the villain, then slowly revealed as something far more mysterious.

The Vampire Lestat is the title now given to Season 3 of AMC's Interview with the Vampire, starring Jacob Anderson, Delainey Hayles and Eric Bogosian, set to air in 2026. It picks up from the events in New Orleans in 1940, when Louis and his teenage fledgling Claudia conspired against Lestat. From there, Louis recounts his journey through Europe in search of the Old World Vampires and the Theatre des Vampires in Paris, all narrated to journalist Daniel Molloy.

I also watched Renfield last night. It had all the right elements and good actors, but it felt more like a blockbuster archetype than something with real depth.

I've had my fair share of The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals was the one that really hooked me.

If you've watched some good ones, I'd love your recommendations.
