General Work Permit Scrapped Which Should Never Have Been Introduced
South Africa has been experiencing some major challenges of late due to having an open border which we all know will create far more problems. The border posts are in place, but one has to ask what is the point because there are other illegal entry points being used and desperate people will use them.
When I read the new immigration proposal I thought those were the rules anyway so how did things change so much or why were they not policed as such. If you wanted to move to another country anywhere in the world then you were scored on a points basis that judged your education , skills and financial status so you would add to the economy and not be a drain.
The old "general work" and "critical skills" work permits will be replaced by a skilled work visa the country requires. The skills being in demand will weigh heavily in favor of the candidates which would automatically see the visa granted. I would quite comfortably say 99% of the immigration over the last 20 years has been allowed to take place using the "general work" permits knowing all too well those people have no skills and is more of an economic migrant.
I know this as my two guys that are decent workers currently employed by us should not even be here. As long as they are legal then there is no problem employing them, but expect them to become illegal when their current permits expire which means no employment. I have seen the reason on their permits which states no work at home and is not a reason to be allowed entry into any country.
If you have skills that are in demand then there is no problem because otherwise you are taking a job of a local if you find work. The majority of locals are unskilled and are fighting for the low paying jobs which there are very few or none.
They say this is the country applying a give and take policy which replaces the take mindset as immigrants have to offer the economy something. What is understandable is the fury of the locals because moving country to seek work due to no work at home is not a reason for entry. When you have immigrants coming from as far as Nigeria meaning they have crossed many countries in order to enter South Africa what does it tell you about those countries they passed through?
Asylum seekers will be rejected if they have passed through a safe country on route to your country which is also common sense and nothing new. The madness we have been seeing across many countries around the world has the same or similar laws, but have been turning a blind eye because it fits the narrative.
If a country lets in too many people who offer nothing to the economy then at some point that system breaks down as those people impact the system negatively .The tax payers cannot be held accountable for paying for the flooding of "asylum" seekers or economic migrants. Many saying open borders should be the normal yet the reality is this never works and too much diversity is not your strength and will be your undoing. I have seen this play out first hand and whoever thinks this will work has never seen it play out in real life.
