When we were very young in our primary school days, one of the things many of those teachers used to do is make sure that we stay on the assembly line longer in the morning. Then we exercise and play very well on the open field exactly early in the morning. I'm talking of eight to nine o'clock before we go inside to take actions of the day.
Back then there are so many of those exercises that I was not okay with. All I just want to do is enter the class, submit my assignment, they should mark my book and make sure I scored 100/100 and I'm fine. Well, as time goes on, I later found out that those teachers were not keeping us out for the fun of it.
It was not a punishment. It was not just to while away time. It was for us to exercise our body.
And that brings me to the answer to this question that is there an age for exercise? If those teachers who have been born and they started doing all these things before I was born could understand that exercise starts at the earliest age that you can ever think about, then exercise starts at birth. That is just the truth. Because immediately you give birth to a child, you first stretch the legs, stretch the arms and stretch everything.
That is a form of exercise to keep that child active and running. If midwives can do that and nurses can do that to a newborn baby, then tell me, is there anyone who will not say that they are waiting to get a particular age before they exercise? I don't think that the human body has an age limit when it comes to exercising. No, we don't have an age limit.
So if by anything, I think we need to start exercising as early as possible. While all of us were very young, movement was easy. Everything comes natural.
But as time goes on and as age is coming closer and closer every day, the reality is getting set in. You need to exercise your body to keep it fit and active to the very end. And when adulthood arrives and meets you not exercising, trust me, you will not like yourself.
And if you're a freelancer who has been walking behind the keyboard, someone like me now, who has been walking behind the keyboard for hours without even standing up. Then after standing up, you enter the car, you drive everywhere, you hold that food from your phone and realize that the only serious exercise that you've got to do is just walking to and fro your room. That is all.
You do not take time to exercise and keep your act active. You won't like it still at the end of the day. Technology has made life very easy, but it has made some people extremely lazy.
Exercise is something that you need to take very seriously. It is very, very important. I'm not going to pretend that it is very easy to wake up by five and start jogging around the streets or taking a one kilometer stretch walk.

That's not a child's play. It is tedious to do, yes, but for your own body, it's very good and has a long lasting benefit. There are periods where I exercise regularly.
There are also times that walks become very busy that I just have to cut myself some slack. Although this is the problem with many adults, they don't have the discipline enough to go through with something to the very end. Some people will start tomorrow and nothing will be done.
Tomorrow will come and they will still postpone it to another day. This happens very well all over the globe. It's not even a matter of you or your locality.
What I'm saying is worldwide and it comes this way. Early in the beginning of the year, so many people will write it as their yearly goal that they want to lose weight, they want to eat in the gym. So a lot of people sign up for gym in that first few months of the year, but going to the second quarter of the year or the half of the year, the reality comes in.
The indiscipline aspect comes in and they don't get to exercise anymore or keep themselves active. Exercise is more bigger than being disciplined or trying to jog in the morning. It's about being able to carry your body comfortably.
It's about your heart, your strength, the balance that you have, the flexibility and mobility that your body can do at any given point. Immediately you can climb a flight of stairs without them feeling that you have just completed a mountain expedition. And as we get older, things are becoming even more important.
I have seen older people who are surprisingly active and mobile. They walk, they stretch and do a lot of housework, garden, dance and keep themselves moving. Then you see someone much younger who gets tired after walking a long distance.
Age is not always the problem here. It's the inactivity that is causing all these issues. Of course, exercise should change with age because it's not the one kilometre stretch that you will give to a youth or a young man that you will give to a grown-up man of 70 years old.
It can't be the same. At different stages of life, our bodies have different needs. But I don't believe that there is ever a point where somebody should say something like, I'm too old to exercise.

That would be very detrimental to the person's health. Even if you cannot run, the best is to walk. If you cannot lift heavy weight, work on lighter resistance.
If your joints cannot handle certain movements, there are gentler forms of exercise that you can partake in. The goal is not to become an athlete. No, you leave that for the stadium and the Olympics, guys.
The goal is to keep your body active and useful to the very end of time. And honestly, I think that this is the mindset that I as a person need to adopt. And if I bring that inside, I will really do great with it.
I don't need to become obsessed with the gym. No, I just need to move more consistently, stretch, walk, busy strength exercise, and find joy in what I'm doing. That is what keeps me happy at this present moment.
And that is my own heart and body exercise. Because if you are waiting for your body to crack down before you start exercising, that might be too late already. So far, you maintain your phone, car, computer, houses.
Your body also needs maintenance too. Back to our question, if there is a specific age for exercise, I don't think there is any. You have to keep exercising till the very end.
