I have more than 7 years in Hive and from the first moment, I was dedicated to the adoption of users to create content. While everyone at the time was dedicated to creating “Curation Projects”, @enmy and I were dedicated to teaching the benefits of this blockchain to reach more people.
This all started in 2017 and I remember how easy it was. All I had to do was post in some Facebook group and I would get written to by hundreds of people interested in “Generating Income from Writing”. That's how we started building our @rutablockchain community, with a Whatsapp group that is 7 years old.
Those were hard times in the Venezuelan economy. There were many desperate people. We rarely received a good vote, we practically only had one whale for all the content in Spanish. The competition was huge, but with $10 you could make a big market.
At that moment I felt I had the “Holy Grail” that would help thousands or hundreds of thousands. We worked hard to get the message everywhere. We had no support from any whale. Our own income was uncertain, but there was always the “miracle” that gave us enough to eat in the worst crisis of the country.
I remember that you didn't have to teach people much. People were willing to “do their homework”, studying how to be better voted for.
Those times were changing, as the bear market appeared and the rewards diminished. In addition, almost nobody wanted to vote for Spanish content. Besides, those were times of bid votes, that is, you had to pay the whales to vote for you.
From that moment on, Venezuelans began to withdraw. Although later came the pandemic in 2020 that coincided with the bifurcation and I saw how new Venezuelans began to arrive, since they had no work and were at home all day. Many learned fast and began to earn many rewards. Some were saved with this new “venture”. Also this tied in with Hive's ATH at over $3 and the rewards were pretty crazy. Imagine earning $500 on a single publication.
Then the bear market came again and they were gone again. They were not the same, as in the first bear wave others left.
That seems to be life at Hive, an eternal cycle of coming and going. Of coming in to get the most out of it and leaving when it no longer gives me as much return.
What happens now.
Right now we are about to start the bull cycle. Hive has already shown signs, although not yet enough to reach many users. However, sometimes I get tired of always being in the same thing. Besides, conditions in Venezuela have changed and adoption is more difficult than ever.
I don't know if this is happening in other countries, but you can't imagine how many people I tell about Hive and they are delighted, and then they never show up. In all the talks I give, you always see them super motivated and excited to start publishing, but then they don't answer the calls.
I don't understand this attitude. Hive has a lot of potential, especially if you see it as a savings. However now people (especially in Caracas) do not see it as a great opportunity. The thinking is that $5 is earned doing anything and that publishing is a hassle.
Maybe in the interior of the country it is something different. Money is harder to come by there and I think that's why there are fewer hivers in Caracas. Another thing is that Venezuela has become a very expensive country.
People forget quickly about crises. Many went back to old habits of wastefulness and few save for hard times. It is something I do not understand. If you already lived through several crises in a few years, you should save to protect yourself from the next one, but in Caracas people spend like crazy and they don't see Hive as something to contribute. They want what they do to give them incredible profits to live off of.
An example of this is the classes I teach. While it is true that they are teenagers and are not yet aware of the value of money, I find it amazing that after what they have earned on Hive (more than anything else in their lives) they are not posting every day.
I have taught Hive to more than 2500 students in the country and at the moment only 1 is still active. I hope that the seniors will continue, even if only a few. The most incredible thing is that they have the support of two whales from the beginning. I never had such a thing. Most have to go through the “learning curve” until you get more votes over time. These students have almost assured votes and don't post 😭
I think it is because of the need to obey.
In Hive you have to be independent. Create your habits and schedules. It's like a business of your own. You don't depend on anyone but yourself. You don't have anyone to tell you what to do and people need that. I told my students, I explained it to them, because in education we are taught to obey, to be employees and not to be responsible for our finances, let alone to invent our own jobs or ways to make a living.
This is something that is very ingrained and difficult to change. Even when you start your own business, you have barriers that sabotage it and they come from this teaching.
Sorry for the long-windedness, but sometimes I despair. Other times I don't care and there are more and more of them. It's many years doing this and knowing that 99% of the people who tell you “Wow I love it, how do I get started”, are never going to create their Hive account. That's why now I'm mostly relaxed and without expectations, but there are always times when you get excited because you see great opportunities, but then they fade away and come to nothing...

Tengo más de 7 años en Hive y desde el primer momento, me dediqué a la adopción de usuarios para crear contenido. Mientras todos en ese momento se dedicaban a crear "Proyectos de curación", @enmy y yo nos dedicamos a ensañar los beneficios de esta blockchain para que lleguen más personas.
Todo esto comenzó en 2017 y recuerdo lo fácil que era. Solo tenía que publicar en algún grupo de Facebook y me escribían cientos de personas interesadas en "Generar ingresos por escribir". Así comenzamos a construir nuestra comunidad de @rutablockchain, con un grupo de Whatsapp que tiene 7 años.
Eran tiempos difíciles en la economía de Venezuela. Había mucha gente desesperada. Pocas veces se recibía un buen voto, prácticamente solo contábamos con una ballena para todo el contenido en español. La competencia era enorme, pero con $10 podías hacer un gran mercado.
En ese momento sentí que había conseguido el "Santo Grial" que ayudaría a miles o cientos de miles. Trabajamos mucho para llevar el mensaje a todas partes. No contábamos con apoyos de ninguna ballena. Nuestros propios ingresos eran inciertos, pero siempre ocurría el "milagro" que nos daba para comer en la peor crisis del país.
Recuerdo que no había que enseñar mucho a las personas. La gente estaba dispuesta a "hacer la tarea", estudiando el cómo ser mejor votado.
Esos tiempos fueron cambiando, ya que el mercado bajista apareció y las recompensas disminuyeron. A eso hay que sumar que casi nadie quería votar contenido en español. Además eran tiempos de bid votes, o sea que tenías que pagarle a las ballenas para que te votaran.
Desde ese momento los venezolanos se comenzaron a retirar. Aunque después vino la pandemia en 2020 que coincidió con la bifurcación y vi como comenzaron a llegar nuevos venezolanos, ya que no tenían trabajo y estaban todo el día en casa. Muchos aprendieron rápido y comenzaron a ganar muchas recompensas. Algunos fueron salvados con este nuevo "emprendimiento". También esto se unió con el ATH de Hive en más de $3 y las recompensas eran muy locas. Imagina ganar $500 dólares en una sola publicación.
Luego vino de nuevo el mercado bajista y se volvieron a ir. No fueron los mismos, ya que en la primera ola bajista se fueron otros.
Así parece que es la vida en Hive, un eterno ciclo de ir y venir. De llegar para sacar el máximo partido y largarme cuando ya no me da tanto rendimiento.
Qué pasa ahora.
En este momento estamos por comenzar el ciclo alcista. Ya Hive a dado muestras, aunque todavía no tanto como para que lleguen muchos usuarios. Sin embargo a veces me canso de estar siempre en lo mismo. Además la condiciones en Venezuela han cambiado y la adopción es más difícil que nunca.
No sé si esto esté pasando en otros países, pero no se imaginan a la cantidad de personas que les hablo de Hive y quedan encantadas, para después nunca aparecer. En todas las charlas que doy, siempre los vez súper motivados e ilusionados por comenzar a publicar, pero después no responden las llamadas.
No entiendo esta actitud. Hive tiene mucho potencial y sobretodo si lo ves como un ahorro. Sin embargo ahora las personas (sobretodo en Caracas) no lo ven como una gran oportunidad. El pensamiento es que $5 se ganan haciendo cualquier cosa y que publicar es un fastidio.
Puede que en el interior del país sea algo diferente. Allá el dinero es más difícil de conseguir y creo que por eso hay menos hivers en Caracas. Otra cosa es que Venezuela se ha convertido en un país muy costoso.
Las personas se olvidan rápido de las crisis. Muchos volvieron a viejos hábitos de derroche y pocos ahorrar para los tiempos difíciles. Es algo que no entiendo. Si ya viviste varias crisis en pocos años, debería ahorrar para protegerte de la siguiente, pero en Caracas la gente gasta como loca y no ven a Hive como algo que aporte. Quieren que lo que hagan les de increíbles ganancias para vivir de ello.
Un ejemplo de esto son las clases que doy. Aunque es cierto que son adolescentes y todavía no tienen consciencia del valor del dinero, me parece increíble que después de lo que han ganado en Hive (más que nada en sus vidas) no estén publicando todos los días.
Le he enseñado Hive a más de 2500 estudiantes del país y al momento solo 1 sigue activo. Espero que los del último curso sigan, aunque sea algunos. Lo más increíble es que cuentan con el apoyo de dos ballenas desde sus inicios. Yo nunca tuve tal cosa. La mayoría tiene que pasar por la "curva de aprendizaje" hasta que con el tiempo vas recibiendo más votos. Estos estudiantes tienen votos casi asegurado y no publican 😭
Pienso que es debido a la necesidad de obedecer
En Hive debes ser independiente. Crear tus hábitos y horarios. Es como un negocio propio. No dependes de nadie, sino de ti mismo. No tienes a nadie que te diga qué hacer y la gente necesita eso. Se los dije a mis estudiantes, se los expliqué, ya que en la educación nos enseñar a obedecer, a ser empleados y no a ser responsables de nuestra finanzas, menos a inventarnos nuestros propios trabajos o formas de ganarnos la vida.
Esto es algo que está muy arraigado y es difícil cambiar. Incluso cuando comienzas en negocio propio, tienes barreras que lo sabotean y vienen de esta enseñanza.
Disculpa lo largo, pero a veces me desespera. Otras veces ya me da igual y cada vez son más. Son muchos años haciendo esto y saber que el 99% de la gente que te dice "Wow me encanta, cómo comienzo", nunca van a crear su cuenta en Hive. Por eso ahora estoy la mayoría de las veces relajado y sin expectativas, pero siempre hay ocasiones que uno se emociona porque ve grandes oportunidades, aunque después se desvanecen y quedan en la nada...
