Saludos comunidad @holos.lotus
Greetings, community. @holos.lotus
Sometimes I am struck by a feeling of contained rage, the kind that doesn't quite explode but keeps swirling around in my head; it happens when I see a sadly repeated scene: a car, a bus, it doesn't matter, the point is that suddenly an anonymous hand appears out the window and drops its small luggage of carelessness—a can, plastic, paper; whatever it may be—as if the street were a kind of silent landfill that accepts everything.

It's not as if I'm a former employee of purity by any means, but there is something bothersome about that gesture; because what is most unsettling is thinking that the person doing it probably isn't even aware of it, even if there is no intention, even if it isn't a declaration of war against the environment or the planet. Perhaps there is something worse in it, a sort of not noticing, an automatic behavior of inattention with the ability to turn everyone's space into nobody's dumpster.
The thing is, we often think that if the intention isn't bad, the effect is less serious, but garbage doesn't understand intentions; understanding the cause—that thoughtless habit, that disconnection—does not erase the flood of evidence we can see daily: suffocated rivers, ditches turned into shop windows of oblivion, parks where grass competes with plastic—just so we're clear, this isn't an exaggeration, but a circumstance. I once read something like, "we are also the air we breathe and the ground we tread," so if our environment degrades, we degrade with it, which is by no means a distant punishment, but an intimate and silent consequence.

Something that consoles me a little is that in the midst of this circumstance, there are people moving, educating children, sowing the kind of environmental culture we so desperately need; however, if each one of us does not assume at least a small part, the collective effort falls short. And the most unfair thing about it is that those who are careful suffer equally the consequences of those who are not, because pollution doesn't ask for a responsibility ID card, and it levels us all downwards.
That is why I think that if we can't manage to be standard-bearers of all things green, we can start with something more modest but equally powerful: not getting in the way. If we don't yet have the awareness to protect, at least it is possible to have the awareness not to harm, because perhaps the first step isn't to plant a tree, but not to break off the branch; that is, to recognize that what I dirty today, in some way I will drink or breathe tomorrow.

No one holds the deed of ownership to the environment, but we all do hold the title deed of responsibility, and in that matter, it matters little who holds the original blame; the responsibility to repair and to stop breaking is entirely ours, and not being an accomplice to deterioration is already a way of building.
Perhaps we are already in a crisis, which many acknowledge and which some bodies are already suffering; tomorrow may be too late for that spring, for that forest, for that stretch of street in front of our houses. We can start today, with the smallest gesture: the paper you keep in your pocket, the can that waits for a trash bin, the silent "no" you say to the hand that was about to throw it out the window; because caring for the environment is also a sincere way of caring for ourselves.
