Hey guys, this is my first time participating in the battle mage secrets and I am for real excited to tell you about my battle because as a beginner, this one has been one of my most epic battles!

The theme for this week’s challenge is the Born Again ruleset where every monster has the rebirth ability, meaning it gets to self resurrect once after death.

Without wasting much time, let’s get into the details of the battle.

My Enemies Lineup

My Line Up and Strategy

Strategy

For this battle, I first checked my opponent’t previous line ups and I realized he is very fond of using cards with the Martyr ability. Because of this, I had to watch out and be weary of a very powerful monster which he’ll be placing next to the Martyr ability card.

To counter whatever monster this was, I decided to choose Underboss Fabino as my summoner so that I can poison this monster in case he has a shield that makes it difficult for me to get through to him with melee attacks.

I selected Endless Ape as my tank because his armor, high health, considerable melee attack, and scavenger ability will be really useful. I also put him here so that in case I didn’t have to poison my opponent, I could use the +2 melee attack buff to increase the damage he can cause.

In second position, I used the Mycelic Slip Spawn because of it’s high magic damage and also to draw away fire from my tank, giving him more time to cause hella damage. Lol

In the third position, I put my tank heal, Goblin Psychic. Combined with the already high health and scavenge ability of my tank, Goblin Psychic basically made him indestructible! Not forgetting that Goblin Psychic itself has a considerable magic attack.

In the back, I placed Spirit Hoarder. Now this guy right here, I put there mainly to heal Mycelic Slipspawn who will be taking all the hits on behalf of the team. But it’s magic attack was also a bonus for me.

My strategy was a well grounded technique in my opinion. An indestructible tank, a decoy to lure away all the attacks and a monster to continuously heal my decoy. It helped that every other monster except my tank had magic attack.

The battle

For some reason, I couldn’t see my opponents Line Up to make a decision on whether I was using Poison or Buffing up my tanks melee attack. So I selected melee attack buff for my tank and prayed to my stars I made the right call. Lol

Lo and behold, what do I see? A martyr as my opponents tank and a melee attack monster with stupid high stats.

Before the battle started, summoner buffs took effect.

Round 1

In round one, I killed my enemies tank which just happened to be the martyr. Twice (because you know, born again). This boosted my enemies next tank's stats by two, giving it a melee attack of 4, speed of 5, and a shield of 11. Surely I'm fucked. Aside this though, no other monsters on either sides took any major damage at this point.

Round 2

In round 2, stats remained pretty much same except that I started damaging my opponent's tank's armor. This was when the healers on both teams got to work.

Round 3

No monster on my team took any serious damage still at this point thanks to the two healers (tank and backline) working in unison. I was able to completely destroy my enemy's tank's armor though, and I believe this was where the difference started showing.

Round 4

By the end of this round, there was still no real damage on my team. My opponent however, had his tank severely damaged, with only 1 health left.

Round 5

I killed my enemy's tank in this round, but as you'll see, he ressurected for his second round. I'm proud to announce that even at this point, no damage was done to my team. In fact, my tank gained an extra health unit by scavanging over my oppoent's tank's death.

Round 6

My team was still standing stronger than ever, and dealt some serious to my opponent's tank again. It seems like I'll take him out completely now.

Round 7

My enemy's healers were starting to become a nuisance at this point because one kept healing the tank up, and the other kept restoring it's armor making it difficult to do real permament damage to it. But even still, MY TEAM WAS BETTER THAN EVER!

Round 8

In this round, I completely killed my enemy's tank, giving my tank (a scavenger) +1 extra health. Hehe things started looking good at this point because I only had to deal with 1 attack monster.

Round 9

I couldn't do any serious damage to my enemy's tank now because I was facing a new challenge. This new tank was incredibly fast and dodged most of my attacks. Despite's its speed though, it couldn't hurt my team because of my healers.

Round 10

Because of my enemy's tank's incredible speed + healers, his stats as well as mine stayed the same from this round up until round 21 when were both hit with fatigue to break the tie.

Round 21

Fatigue reduced both team's monster health units by 1. Everything else on both teams stayed the same...

Round 22

When the second wave of fatigue hit, it wiped out my opponent's last 3 monsters, and my two healers. Even if the ruleset was not Born Again, I'm pretty sure I would've won at this point. But all dead monsters got russerected. This increased my tank's (scavenger) max health to 19.

Round 23

In this round, the monsters who died and were ruserrected on both teams were killed and stayed dead this time. You can see how that gave me an upper hand considering my tank is a scavenger with 4 melee attack, and the monster next to it is a magic mosnter with 2 attack. I killed my enemy's last standing monster (the tank), with my tank still having 19 health and the magic monster it 7 health!

Some comments

I think my opponent’s mistake was relying too heavily on his first two cards, and using monsters with no attack for his last 3 cards. If any of his last 3 monsters had some sort of attack, I’m very sure this battle would’ve had a different ending.
